When we did this swap about three years ago, I made child sized "quilts" and donated them to Cook Children's Hospital in Ft. Worth. My youngest grand daughter had her brain tumor surgery there in 2013. She was given a very nice child sized quilt while in the hospital there. She also asked me to use fleece the back of each one that I made. She told me she was always cold while there until someone brought her a colorful fleece blanket. So I piece the tops, then I usually buy 1 and 1/4 to 1 and 1/2 yards of fleece, lay it out on a flat surface, lay the he top on the fleece( wrong side up) and pin them together. Then I sew all around, leaving a turn space. Once turned you can hand stitch or machine stitch the hole closed. Then I press the seams around the edge and using embroidery thread, I the the quilt.usually at the corners of each block.

Missouri Star Quilts has you tube tutorials. So does Jordan fabrics in Oregon. I think it helps to see someone piecing a quilt top.

My process is simple. I cut each square on the diagonal and sew them together making a square that has each fabric on the diagonal. Then I match the fabrics back together so that there is a big triangle of one color in the middle and the other fabric triangles on the sides. It is now a rectangle. That rectangle will be sewn to another making a large square with a diamond in the middle. I'm excited to see what color combinations occur.

Thank you, Diana, for your fabrics. They will go nicely with the yoyo table top I am making with all the fabrics I get from this month's (April) swap. I'll post a picture when I am done.

Busy, yes. Only thing is, I've been doing what I want to do not what I must or should do.

Ohhhh, Marie!! How awesome are YOU!!! I kind of know what I want to do with my fabric squares but have been outside in the garden almost every day working! Maybe a few rainy days will allow me some creative time inside! Your piece is so lovely!!

I used this simple design because there is no waste and because I do not like piecing. LOL Later I will embroider each block and do some machine quilting.
