I just finished both books on Elizabeth Keckly, Mrs Lincoln's Dressmaker... I so enjoyed both books and also gleaned a lot of info about the Civil War, that I didn't know about..

Have several books about Mrs. Lincoln---apparently she was crazier than a loon---now I need to get to those books. Good reading for sure! Nice to know there are other crazies out there---and woe is me---they are not hiding in a holler---LOL. I am a sweet gentle soul---just can't handle modern life---prefer a life of peace in the country.

PS Ladies---my husband has studied about the civil war since high school and I know so many things about it from him. He should have been a history teacher and not a peon at Sam's---but hey he hates kids so that's his lot in life. He has tons of civil war books and I have learned plenty. And also---my Poor WV great-grandfather was a soldier in the civil war--a farmer called from home to defend the union. So proud that West Virginia succeeded from the union and went with the north. Mountaineers are always free as the saying goes---we did not wish to defend rich white people and their lifestyle. Rock on West Virginia. My great grandfather remembered soldiers coming to steal from their farm. Such awful images I have seen in his books and in films---but a very interesting subject ladies. Thoughts????

And succeeded from the union wasn't right either---I meant separated from Virginia. We became a state in 1863. Too much Christmas card writing yesterday left me a little addled brained.
