Are there any farmgirl chapters in NE or N Central Kansas?

Hello Sisters! I just started a Chapter in Southern California, there is so much interest out here and I'm really excited for our first meeting! Any tips on keeping the excitement going? Thank you!

Beth, I tried to start Urban Farm Chicks chapter in San Jose, many years ago. I got no response. If you are near San Jose, would you like to start a group of woman to meet? Farm Girls are rare around here. YOU are welcome to find a kindred spirit.
To find a local chapter, go to http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Chapters/Search.asp If you would like to find Urban Farm Chicks, type- San Jose in the city search box. Jan |

I am almost 3 hours north of the bay area. I am happy to start a chapter with you but I am not sure how often we would be able to meet face to face. We could talk about what we would be able to do, though. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks for the response. Beth

If you click on the local Chapter Link above and fill out the form, we can talk about it offline. How about a Zoom Chapter?

Beth -- god luck on finding a chapter in No Cal. I tried to contact the one in Sacramento and didn't receive an answer. It appears Farmgirls are few and far between here.

Well, if anyone wants a Zoom Chapter, we can take a Badge and I or someone more knowledgeable can demo a way to do it, meet again to discuss progress, share tips, get some goals met, and make some friendships. I raise goats, chickens, know embroidery and fermenting vegetables, and teach gardening 74-86 students a semester. I'm not good at sewing, but I bartered and got a treadle sewing machine. Thinking of meeting 6 times a year on even months, keeping it simple, creating a learning opportunity to learn some skills and have fun doing it. Making the meeting really short, we can explore some ideas if people want to expand what we are doing. If you click and sent a message to Urban Farm Chicks Chapter in San Jose, http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Chapters/Search.asp let me also know here if you don't get a response. The system may not be working! Jan

Jan, I like the idea of a Zoom chapter. I have been conducting my Science and Math classes via Zoom since Late March. It would work if everyone participates. I am in Ohio.If I can not find a chapter here maybe I could join you? could be wild being a part of a chapter that spans our great continent.

The idea of a Zoom meeting is a great one!! I've used it and Facebook Room to tell stories to my grandkids (and whoever wants to join) every week. In fact, I have one tonight - I call it "Stories with a Nana". I agree with Terri - it could be a wonderful experience to meet and talk with everyone from everywhere :)

The idea of Zoom and Facetime and all those virtual chat things terrifies me. I have a love/hate relationship with technology. LOL! But, I am in the same boat as Terri. There are no active chapters in the Greater Lafayette, IN area that I can find. If someone is starting a virtual chapter, I'd be willing to give it a try if y'all are patient with my lack of knowledge of video meet ups! :)

Good Morning all, Jan...and if you would like to host the first Zoom meeting get us started I'm in! We could alternate hosting and set a schedule for each successive meeting time. How about we get this started and see where it goes - I need more Farmgirls in my life. Keep us posted and thank you for the idea and ways to get us moving. Linda

Tchr66, rhinomom2, GinnyBell, Hi! My thought to do a Zoom Farm Girl gathering. Rhinomom2 glad to alternate host Let's talk about what you'd like to do At the first chapter meeting: Let's meet and talk about what you'd all like to do. My Thought was to -- Pick a badge, individually or as a group, -- work through the levels, and enjoy the conversation and community together. Grab a cup of tea, spend some time with farm chicks.
To ve able to make this happen, it would make it a whole lot easier if I could do a group email. If people signed up on the Urban Farm Chick Chapter, I could make a group email. That way I can find a mutually agreed upon time and let you all know the Zoom Meeting Details. HOW to sign up? Go to Chapter Search, http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Chapters/Search.asp put San Jose into the "search by city", two chapters are in San Jose, Click to join Urban Farm Chicks. I'll be in touch.

To all, My husband got exposed to a confirmed Corona virus case through collegue at work. As he came home ill at the time of incubation being correct, I was taking care of him. He was checked and found "clear" of Corona/COVID-19. I will be contacting everyone today. Sorry for the delay. Everything shuts down for me but the goal of getting someone well when faced with this.

The first meeting of the NEW Zoom Nationwide Urban Farm Chicks Chapter occurred, going boldly where no Farm Chick Chapter has gone before! For the summer, we will be meeting once a month on 2nd Fridays mornings, 7am PST/ 10 CST. In the fall, time will be changing to evenings, 4 pm PST/ 7pm CST. A Get-together, discussed swaps, all members will be joining the Farm Girl Sisterhood sign-up for $20 and work on badges. Where the badges call for a presentation, we got the group to do it. Need a group? No chapter near? Never fear, the Zoom Urban Farm Chicks are here!
Keeping it simple, creating a learning opportunity to learn some skills and have fun doing it. If you want to join, Urban Farm Chicks,if you click and sent a message to Urban Farm Chicks Chapter in the city of San Jose,California, Go to http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Chapters/Search.asp let me also know here if you don't get a response.
