I Started ours by listing it in the Yahoo local free ads and Craigs list. Have received many inquiries this way. Also speak to local businesses where farm girls shop. an eco mart or farmers market..or .Natural food store Good luck!

What a great Idea Cheryl...I hosted what I called a "farmgirl round-up" at the local farmer's market and they came out in droves.... we have 133 farmgirls in our little chapter and more all the time. If you have a local REA (rural Electric Association) find out who writes for their newlsetter, a lot of farmgirls have found us through that type of publication...
I have found that it you Start a chapter~ they will come! :)

We have had two new inquiries this week.. Met with them and they are considering joining.. We are encouraging but not pushing these ladies. We feel if they come in and meet us a few times they will decide to join the flock. So far we have 5 members committed.. I think it is important to encourage commitment issues because We as a group need that support in planning activities.

Hi All!
I am a newbie and I was wondering if someone could tell me where I could find a list of Chapters to join in my area...or if there is a list of chapters in general? Maybe I just over looked it somewhere :)
Thanks, Amber

Hi Amber, I think if you go to the Home Page and at the bottom of the page there a Chapter Search that you can go to. I hope that helps!

Lisa that is great!
I have been the chapter leader of City Chick and Friends here in Nebraska for almost 2 years now. Our group started with just 3 people for almost the entire first year. We have never activly gone out and promoted our group but currently we have 16 members. Three of them live outside our homebased area of Omaha but still in the state. Our group has added several new members in just the last few months. I think that as more people look to simplify and grow their own food; as well as eat more organic and naturally, people really start seeking out local resources. I'm so glad that MaryJane helps connect us all together and that our group here in Nebraska can be a welcoming place for other farmgirls to come share.
I think you are going to love being a chapter mama and the girls here are all always willing to help and give ideas. So what is your groups new name??

Hi Christina-
Thank you! I think I'm going to love it too! So glad I decided to do this! Well we came up with what we want to call our chapter, but I cant figure out how to go back in to my chapter set up and input our name. I didnt know at the time I signed up what we wanted to call our chapter. Do you know how I do that? We want to cal ourselves the Northwest Country Angels. The girls thought they liked that as we made dishtowel angels at our first get together.

Hi Lisa~
I believe that it was Gabe that went in and changed that for me. If you go into the section of the chat rooms under All Forums you will see Gabe's name in the Farmgirl Roll Call. (you don't even have to open it up because his name is right there in the header line.) Just click on his name and it will let you send him an e-mail. If he is no longer the person that takes care of the name change information I am certain he can point you in the right direction. I hope that helps!

Quick Intro:
Hi! My name is Cat Carter and I am new to the Sisterhood. I live in Torrance CA. I am wondering if there are any active groups near me...I tried doing the contact to two that were listed as close to me, but as no one has responded, I am now wondering if they are no longer active and the lists need updating. I would really like to find others near me...I'll start one if there is nothing but I thought I'd ask here first.
Hugs, Sisters!

Just in case there are any interested. I have started a Farmgirl Chapter in Keizer, OR. I have received response from a few farmgirls. I am planning for our very first meeting in the next few weeks. Also, if there is anyone in active chapters that would love to share some ideas with me please email me. Thanks! |

I just created Urban Farm Chicks for San Jose, CA Area for those who keep country in their hearts and live in the city.
We have a San Jose Chapter so that hens who want to connect will have an opportunity for all the fun. What fun? People in a group can meet periodically to work on the farmgirl badges, do canning and plant seeds to take home for their vegetable gardens.
Have hope in your heart, and darkness has no home.

I am so excited to get going, I have some women that want to be a part of the Mid-Columbia Mademoiselles :))) It has taken me some time to get the word out and we will meet on the 19th. Lots of ideas and fun stuff in the works. Our very first get together we are going to make and bind journals. I am so excited this has been a long time in the making for this farmgirl.
My heart is at the beach.
