Good morning farmgals!

My husband and I are in the final throes of closing a deal on 33 acres. Am I drooling on the keyboard?
I enjoy gardening, used to have a Paso Fino horse I loved dearly, quilting, reading, teaching, writing, parenting (we are hosting an exchange student from Thailand this year and we have a 6 yr. old daughter), baking, wine making, preserving everything, traveling, laughing (I tell the best stupid jokes...I think.)
I'm looking forward to sharing and learning with you all.
We make a difference.

Welcome, Michelle!

I LOVE the Palouse! I have a friend who lives just south of Spokane on a farm and a friend who lives just outside of Waverly. I love the different textures and colors of the hills throughout the seasons and some of the cool farm roads that snake through them. One of my very favorite places to camp and hike and visit is Kamiak Butte, just north of Pullman -- it's a forested hill in the Palouse. I am SO HAPPY for you!!!!!

The exchange student experience is neat. We had a Swiss student live with us when I was a high school senior and then a Swedish girl a couple of years later. As my daughter ages, I think it would be neat. I don't have an extra room, though.

I've been looking for a Farmgirl who might be able to help me with canning, if and when I get a garden going again. Years ago I did acidic things, like tomatoes and peaches, but I'd like to do more. I think freezing is a good option, too. So I may turn to you, if you don't mind.

Glad you're here! Karin

Thanks! I've been reading what's been going on here for about a week, and I love the sharing and support everyone has for eachother. It's so good to connect. Yes, Karin, I'd love to chat canning with you. Wouldn't it be fun to can together, share the work, laugh? I've yet to poison anyone, so that's got to count for something.

We make a difference.

Welcome, Michelle! About 7 years ago, we had a Japanese college student with us for a little over a semester. We learned so much from that. Your life sounds so interesting, and I look forward to reading your posts and getting to know you.

What a warm farmgirl welcome!

Yes, we are enjoying learning from our experience hosting an exchange student. It is interesting having a teenager in the house. I'm learning to "chill out", which I'm sure my daughter will appreciate later.

I'm sure I'm no more busy than any of you. Most women's days are like a juggling act, but you're standing on a ball, balanced on the back of a charging rhinocerous. It's never dull, and even falling now and then is an opportunity for laughter.

We make a difference.

Welcome to the Farm girl world Michelle

Your description of your home and area around you sounds beautiful. I never hosted a exchange student for a whole year but we did do it for a few years for a month with students from japan
