Mona is doing great. She is due to calve on May 25th and we are starting to dry her up now...she is still giving about 3 gallons every other night. I am sure going to miss her milk when she is dry!!!

Jenny I can't wait to see pictures of her new calf. How exciting! Do you have a good date?

Karin, it's so nice to be back. We will at least get a chance to check in every week or so now. Dodge is a big ol sweetheart. He is just as loving as a faithful dog. We didn't sheer him last fall so his wool is so long, beautiful and soft. We'll get some pictures posted soon.

Welcome back Heather and Tammy - I am back too! How is the nursery? And the cats and crazy chicken?
I hope you enjoyed swapping the journals (I am not sure if you ever saw the Manuka Chapter's effort? All I know is that it made it to Oregon and then back to NZ!

Welcome back Debs, unfortunately the journals have never made it to our neck of the woods. I hope you were able to see ours. It's never made it back here so I think it's still out and about.

Our chickens are doing really well. We are actually fencing them in a good portion of the time now. That way I can still manage to keep a garden. I am however going to let my silkie hen out with a few chicks to work the garden and greenhouse. They are less destructive than the Buff's.

Cats...well we now have 7. My little sweetpea who I raised from the time she was less than an hour old was killed this last December by a very large hawk. It was pretty difficult when it happened, but at times I think it was a blessing in disguise. She was really starting to have a hard time and no medication seemed to help so I know I would of had to make the hard decision to put her down soon. She was only 1 1/2 years old, but she developed these fits that could go on all day. I miss her. Her name really fit. Sorry for the sad note, it's the first time I've written about it since she died.

Everything else here is going pretty good. We are eagerly looking forward to spring. I hope the weather there is starting to show signs of spring as well.

Tammy

Tammy - that's so sad about your kitty. It must have been quite a shock. It is hard when you lose a pet that you have been so close to.
Wow, I wonder where the journal is - I hope someone is enjoying reading it and adding their bit to it somewhere! I think Julia V. had the Manuka Chapter journal briefly and added some bits to it, but I haven't seen that yet.
Re: spring - remember we're in the Southern Hemisphere here, so I planted several veges/salads in September and have continued planting seeds over the spring and summer - I hope the summer will last a little while longer!

I was kind of thinking we are opposite with our seasons, but I wasn't sure how opposite. Enjoy your garden; I can't wait to get mine going.
Have a great weekend.
