Oh, how cool to get vintage fabric in this swap. I'm really looking forward to it.

My favorite little quilt store just across the river o nthe NY side, 15-20 minutes away, closed abruptly due to health problems of the owner. When I took my daughter out to the big city, Scranton, to hit the two fabric chain stores there, Hancocks is CLOSING! They are having a great sale, but I was not really prepared to spend gobs there. (sigh) Walmart will be closing theirs out next year. There will be no place to buy just a little bit of what I need in a pinch. I thought more women and young ladies were getting into the sewing craze?

It is so sad to sew the art of sewing slip away. As for the fabric stores, more of them are converting to Mega Craft stores. : > (
I find myself visiting the local thrift shops near by and snoop around for interesting skirts & dresses that I can wash & cut apart for fat quarters. I also save the buttons & sometimes even the zippers can be recycled.
A former neighbor was going through an ugly divorce, she tossed out her wedding dress,,,,yes, I pulled it from the trash, box & all. I had a field day recycling the lace, button and satin from the dress, the veil gave me lots of tulle netting & pearls. Needless to say, I had a ton of fun with all that fabric.
It must be true what they say,,, sewing keeps us in stitches!!!!

Hi Elizabeth:

The trip to Vermont was fabulous. My friend's brother just built a house there (will retire to it in about 5 years), so it was geat to have a home to stay in. I love Vermont and hope to live there or right by there in NYS by the border someday.

I sent my fat quarters out this morning. You will have them by Tuesday I think. Thank you for everything. Happy Easter!
