Would anyone be interested in doing a Farm Girl cloth doll/stuffed animal ("stuffie") swap?

I make felt dolls and rag dolls (not primitive, but more like raggedy ann-type dolls) and I also make simple animal or monster dollies.

I have some great simple patterns for farm animals if you gals would like to do some of those instead... I think I have a bull, a cow, a pig, goat, duck and chicken. (And cat and dogs) Maybe some others, but I'd have to look.

Anyone interested? We don't have to have lots of folks to do this one - we'd probably just be pairing up.

NOTE: (2/26/07) We have added two components to this swap - first, (and this is only optional) a mini doll from us (in addition to our swap doll) to be sent to Mahri, the little girl whose mom used to work for MJ.

And secondly, we are opening up a junior version for any kids who want to make a doll and swap. (Do not worry about enough kids joining, if need be, we will pair them up with older "kids")....Everyone will get a doll!

EDIT March 1: I am extending the doll swap sign up through the weekend, so go ahead and sign up if you haven't had a chance to do so yet. Also, if you haven't filled out your survey, please do so. Thanks!!! I'll send out partners on Monday.

UPDATE March 5th - The partner info has been mailed to everyone.

Here are the partners:

Kim & Karin
Linda & Jessica
Julie & Erin
Eren & Birdi
Tina Michelle & Judith
Naomi & Frannie
Jeanette & Robin
Carmen & Erin
Kathy & Denise

Please read back in the postings to find their surveys. If they have not posted a survey, please email them with any questions you might have.

MAILING DEADLINE: April 20th (to avoid long lines at the post office during tax filing weekend.)

We'd definitely have three or four weeks to work on this, starting from the date that the list goes out. So if I keep the sign up period open until March 1, then send out the list, we could have the mailing date be April 1. How does that sound?

I would be interested but there are a lot of swaps right now. Is there anyway we could do an April 15th due date?

I'm going to create a webpage with links to sites with free doll and toy patterns, in case anyone would like some patterns or even just some inspiration. I have a bunch of doll and toy related sites bookmarked.

(I'll post a link over the weekend some time.)

I may be interested...what's involved? Soap swaps have everyone getting a bar of everyone else's soap...so sometimes there are 20 or more bars going out. It would seem that sewing dolls would be too labor intensive for something like that, though

I believe it was supposed to be a one on one swap..where we get paired with a partner..I certainly can't be sewing 20 dolls either..so I do hope that it is just a one on one swap.

There such a wide variety of dolls or toys that we can make. I'll create a short questionnaire that everyone can fill out and it'll show what kind of dolls folks would be willing to make, and what type they'd like to receive, and I'll try to pair folks up as best I can.

I do have a thought. Would you ladies be interested in adding one small component to this swap? We'd make a regular-sized doll for your partner, but make a mini version (of whatever you make) for Mahri Crawford... If you all are interested in this, I can check and see if it'd be okay to do this and if it is, then we can send our minis to Mahri directly... What do you think??
