instead of chocolates (that will go straight to my hips) and/or flowers (which will wilt in a week or less due to my brown thumb).
So my hubby was trying to figger out what to get me and while we were looking around a little general store in northern CA, I saw this bit and just had to have it!! It's a show bit with silver and just gorgeous. I still have my show bridle and it will look spectacular on my horse!!
My hubby also bougth me a silver show snaffle for Christmas year before last. I tell you, that man knows how to get to my heart!!
Happy Trails ;-)
PS I'll post a pic of it when I get my camera out of the pickup.
HT :-)

Oooh, fun! I love western bits, even though I don't ride western all that much. Many of them are works of art! I sometimes get jealous of all the awesome western gear, the Cowboy Tack braidwork, the silver and the tooling. It's so rich in tradition.
I think it's funny. I ride primarily English and have for many years. The English riders I know have the most loud schooling wear with crazy pads and hilarious tights and helmet covers, and yet when we go to the showpen we're very conservative. Western folk are the opposite. They look like street people when they school in the worst jeans and nasty boots and beat up saddles and sweaty hats, but my oh my when they show, get your sunglasses on because the glare will getcha! |

I saw an article once that explained X-country riders...it said they are the type to have a party and slide down the pole that holds the tent up. Well, it was something like that but it was sure funny.
I used to show and had all the glitz (when in Rome, do as the Romans do!!) but now if I were to show, I think I'd go for Ranch shows. Just use every day tack and have real moving horses, not the artificial slow moves that are out there nowadays. I'm content with just going down the trail now...cheaper than a shrink!!
Happy Trails :-)
