Ours is special tonight, for valentines day: Honey Glazed Salmon with basil, Asparagus with hollandaise, and fettuccine. Chocolate muffins for dessert, topped with conversation hearts. :)

Oh, and according to my romantic cook book, "Intercourses", Honey, Basil, Asparagus, and Chocolate are all aphrodisiacs!

Since it's Valentine's Day, I am making steak with a red wine reduction, steamed lobster tails, steamed garlic broccoli and heart-shaped brownies for dessert.

I've had a yummy crock-pot dinner going all day from an old issue of Cooking Light: Chicken Provencale - it smells delish and as soon as hubby comes in from snow-blowing the driveway, we'll be sitting down to enjoy it. Though I have to admit, I've eaten dessert first - a rich dark-chocolate heart that hubby gave me for Valentine's Day ;-)

ETA: Just wanted to post a little: in response to Persephone's post *lol* Sounds terrific actually! Hope you have an enjoyable dinner

Lime-Basil chicken, wild and long grain rice with added yummies (the kids call it happy rice) and fresh steamed carrots. oh...and fresh dinner rolls. I made extra cupcakes (a from scratch recipe from the Butt'ry Shelf cookbook) with pink icing too, when I made them for Erin's school party.
I do love chicken..but gosh almighty..Steak and Lobster sounds SOOOOOOOOOOOO good!!

Well, we are having Ikea Swedish meatballs and cream gravy with egg noodles and green beans, a salad and biscuits. My DH loves those meatballs, so this is his special Valentine meal. And it's quick and easy!

DH is making the parmesan risotto as we speak. We'll have roasted vegetables (recipe from the Farmgirl Connection cookbook) on the side and brownies for dessert. I should probably say good-bye to you ladies and keep him company. Happy Valentine's Day everybody!

Don't worry Ricki, my 1-year old and I are having leftover (but homemade) macaroni and cheese, smooshed banana (his is smooshed, mine is not), salad for me, and a lovely corn & butternut puree for him. If Daddy were here, dinner would have been more exciting. But he's stuck in Pennsylvania on a business trip - the snow storm means that he won't be home until tomorrow now! Happy Valentine's Day, indeed.

Catherine :)

D'oh! Catherine, you just reminded me that I have a carton of butternut squash flesh that I baked yesterday and had planned on making into a butternut pudding, but I forgot! We had chicken enchilada chili tonight. Poor hubby; I didn't realize he was having a bad tummy day, and this stuff is spicy. I'll offer him a dish of Ben and Jerry's to coat his cumin and chipotle ravaged stomach.

Good evening everyone and happy valentines day!

Dinner tonight is Asian/Orange Salmon with buttered brown rice, and gently steamed broccoli served in a savory seasoned chicken broth reduced to perfection, with fresh baked herbed onion bread as accompaniment.

Desert is triple chocolate fudge cake, courtesy of Betty Crocker, baked in a lovely vintage fluted heart pan. :)

The table is being set and I have the coolest antique red insulator things (thrift store find for $3.00 ea) I'm going to use as candle holders. Hubby should be home around 9:30 tonight.
