Just thought I'd share three of our clan members, Daisy Bad Seed, Jack Sprat and Stooka, all snuggled in this morning for the ice storm. They've sure got the right idea!!!
Just think of all of the roads there are...all of the things I haven't seen....yet. |

Let's see....I took that at 8:20 this am, and Daisy is still snoozin' at 2:04....the cats long ago moved on in search of crunchies. The other three big dogs have been loving the outdoors, ice and all.

We love Daisy--she's doing much better but she really is smarter than we are so we have to keep up with her!

How much did you get hit with the bad weather there? Having grown up in Ky; I know the really severe winter weather usually spares Ky. Maybe winter feels sorry for all the poor folks trying to drive those winding, 1&1/2 lane country roads! Hope you don't have too much of a commute. Better to stay home & snuggle up with your pets.  |

Hi Melanie--
We got a crazy ice storm last night that tore down our power lines (they're slack and tangled in branches, but we still have power, so we're blessed--we don't have a part of our siding where they were attached, but, I digress...)
Not too bad of a commute, but it sure is nice to be inside here today with the fur-kids! What part of Kentucky did you hail from?
Tasha--the other yellow tabby, Pumpy is smarter than these two--he was asleep by the radiator!
6:45 and Daisy is STILL asleep on the sofa!

| I was born in Lexington, grew up in northern Ky; mostly in Dayton. (My sister is still in Independence.) Moved away in 1970. Went back for the first time a couple of years ago, & for all intents & purposes, you could say that the little town I grew up in was completely gone. Same for Fort Thomas, Bellevue, Augusta, Maysville - all the places I knew growing up in the 1950s & early sixties. It seems to me, now, that Cincinnati has just sprawled out across the river, & taken over the quaint little towns. The HUNDREDS of acres of woods were I played as a child are wiped out. And that ugly monster called I-275 - ugh!! When I move back this year, I'm going to be looking for something to approximate what I knew growing up........ I'm hoping it is still possible!! |

LA...It is (possible), but I'm afraid you're going to be further out in Campbell County, and maybe even Pendleton. The other side of I-71 is still pretty rural (Gallatin, Carroll, Henry) it just all depends on how far you want to drive in! We live in Elsmere, and have about an acre of land--in the city. We all do in this neighborhood, but the houses are cottages and bungalows. It's just the two of us, so I'm happy to sacrifice the space for the land (and the price was right for a single girl!!!). I think Boone County will only depress you, as will most of Kenton. Even Morning View, Piner and those areas are becoming hotbeds for development. Those farms just keep selling out.
Actually, my good friend lives still in Bellevue, born and raised. They live a street from the riverfront, and just a block away, they've developed the river view for condos--the units start at $400k and go to $1Mill.
Melton Realtors in Williamstown does mostly rural and county property sales. Auctions, too. Might be a good place to start.
I wish you much luck, and if you want me to "scout", I'll give you a heads up now and again when I run across something.
