It must be so hard for you to watch Bear but it sounds like things are looking up! ((hugs)) and prayers.

I am sorry to hear about Bear but will be praying for a quick recovery. When my shepherd needed help to maneuver I found that taking a beach towel and folding it into a sort of long sling that I could put under her belly in front of her back legs enabled me to help lift her without breaking my back (she is 100# dog). The towel was a real back saver and the prednisone she is on has helped tremendously also- What is Bear on for pain. I know metacam works really well.
Hugs to both of you!

Today's update- I started yesterday slinging him to get him up and out. It does work well, Kathy!! He spent some time on the back deck getting a bit of sunshine and seemed perfectly content. (We are delightfully warm today!) He is trying more and more to get himself up into a sitting position, so it's easier to maneuver him into trying to walk. He is such a trooper.
Thanks for checking up on him, everybody! Farmgirls are the best! :)

Karin

Oh- he's taking prevacox for pain. And liquid vitamins with calcium and an antibiotic!

Karin,

I was so happy to hear about Bear. I was unable to access the internet for the past few days but he was in my thoughts. Will keep up the healing thoughts and prayers for your beloved Bear.

Bear is improving more and more. He now will take the big step up into the kitchen and is doing better about maintaining his footing in the family room. (We have vinyl tile- talk about slippery! He has to step from rug to rug verrry slooowly. ) His adventure gene must be kicking back in as he will now travel a bit when he's out for a bathroom break. He is becoming more and more a part of our family. I get a lovely, sweet greeting when I get home. We go back to the vet on Tuesday. I will let you know what they say.
Thank you so much for your caring thoughts.

Karin
