This October, my husband & I will be getting together with two couples we haven't seen in a very long time. Our guys were in the Marines together and served in Vietnam (helicopter crew chiefs).
Mike & Kathy will be coming from Maryland. Larry & Debbie will join us from Arizona. It's been about 30 years since any of us have had the opportunity to have a vacation like this - what with raising families and then taking care of parents. I am so excited! We are meeting in eastern Oklahoma, mid fall.
Hoping for gorgeous weather!

That sounds like a great time. Yes, we too have long term military friends and when we do see them we pick up right where we left off. One never knows the directions long time military friends can take. I watched one of my friends (we were the military wives) put herself through dental school since the husbands were traveling 39 weeks out of the year and her kids were in the upper grades. I used to hear about all the homework she was busy with. Flash forward now 20 years and she has two practices in Spokane and is a great dentist with so much experience and knowledge. When we moved to Idaho I knew it would be worth the 40 minute drive to have her be my dentist. She keeps my smile pretty and everything healthy. Ha!! Who knew, we would have never guessed this course of life would unfold when we were back at Fort Lee, Virginia together. Her husband is teaching at the local military base now and mine retired in 2005. Yep, even though we were the "older" couple it never mattered amongst the military group. My husband was in the US Army for 39 and 1/2 years. Now we are just having a good time seeing sights and doing projects on the acreage in between. Have a good time! Annie

How fun!!!!! Most of our military friends are still in the military... we are one of the first to retire. I'm looking forward to many many reunions. Those bonds just cannot be broken!
