Yay...can I just brag a bit about the cutest 4th of July care package that I'm sending to my honey overseas? Everything he's getting is all red, white & blue! Can't wait for him to open it!

Shannon, I have been moving military style for 16 years, domestic and international. They send movers in who pack up everything and take apart anything that needs to be. Then when you get your stuff delivered they will bring everything in and put things back together. They will unpack your boxes, but decline because they will just set it down and you will have a mess. I always just have them bring the boxes in and put them in the room the box is labeled for and have them put together stuff. I am happy to say I have done my last move. My husband retires in a year so moving from Germany to TN pregnant, with two dogs, and my son was my last son. In military fashion I did it on my own because the Army "needed" my husband for two more months in Germany. But back to on topic I have always let them move me and it is a lot easier then dity moving. Good Luck. What is your next duty station?

We are actually only doing a local move this time around, onto base housing. My hubby will be retiring soon (we should start terminal leave the end of August)and then be moving to Wyoming :) Super excited!!!
Do they label your boxes for what room they were in or do you? They are coming today to look at everything. They are in for a surprise as I already have about 70% of the stuff boxed (we were not sure if we were going to be able to get base housing as we do not have retainability, but ended up getting it on a hardship exception - hubby cannot reenlist due to a MEB). Plus, we are a homeschooling family... of 7... so LOTS of books!!!

They will label the box with a sticker with a number and it will go on a inventory sheet and as they take them off the truck at the new house they will mark of that box number and put it in the room. They will also make the box with what room it is from and going to example "kitchen" "master bedroom" "kid room 1" "kid room 2". Things that are packed they may repack or open and look. Anything that gets loaded they label. Good luck

I am an A.F. veteran, and my sweetie is an A.F. retiree. My dad and 2 of my brothers were in other branches. My youngest is in the Air Force and is stationed in South Korea for a year.
