Hi all. I just read & replied to the topic on carpal tunnel. I'd like to hear from any of you suffering from OA, esp. in the back and neck. I have had problems going back 10 yrs. or more, the latest in my neck and lower back. Right now I'm going for shots in my neck and massage therapy - which both helped in the past. This time I didn't have to wait as long, because I previously had an MRI and know what the problem is and the cause. I have bone spurs also. Our health insurance is being changed, and my drs. don't accept what will be our new carrier. Has anyone tried something called a "body bridge"? I ordered one, because I tried bending backwards over an exercise ball, and it helps. The body bridge is just that, you lie on it, on your back, and work up to 3 bends to stretch your back and increase the disk space in your spine. Just wondering if anyone had tried this?

Cecelia, I've been eyeing this for a very long time.... but haven't made the investment yet. I do stretch out over a big ball, and also use little balls too... I was inspired by the book "The Ultimate Body Rolling Workout" by Yamuna Zake and Stephanie Golden. The subtitle is "the revolutionary way to tone, lengthen and realign your body". You might look into that, too. Please let us know how the body bridge works for you.

I have that big ball too - the problem is finding the time to use it! I figure that the body bridge thing is a big investment, yes, but since all I have to do is lie on it, I can probably de-stress along with stretching out my spine! I'll let you know how I'm doing with it (it's being shipped).

Cecelia--I have a problem at the base of my spine, sacroilliac joint, my knees and right hip. The only thing that gives me any peace is swimming. I try to go everyday but that doesn't always happen and I definitely feel it when I don't. Celebrex gave me some relief until I had to stop it due to gastric bleeding. Now I am not taking anything but ultracet for the very worst times with it.I hope your body bridge is helpful, we have a friend who has one of those upside down things and that sometimes helps my back slip into place.I guess that it
is a similar concept to the bridge .

Hi Bramble. Yes, I thought of hanging upside down like a bat in one of those contraptions!
The more I thought of it, the bridge looked like I'll get more support for my body. I don't take anything more than Advil. I can understand your back problems; when I'm hurting it's bad, but then it seems to either go away, or something else hurts! Luckily nothing hurts all at one time. Mainly now it's my neck, and feet (problems with toes, which I thought was bunions, but a podiatrist told me differently).

Cecelia I can certainly empathise with you. It is no fun. The only time I take the pain med is when my sleep patterns have been disrupted for more than two-three days. Then I know it's time to get some relief or I will not be a happy camper. The upside down thing actually does have pretty good support and it sure beats hanging upside down at the playground ! I hope you find some relief soon.

My contraption arrived today, did not have to assemble any more than the hand holds. I am going to try it out and let everyone know how it is working.

If anyone else is interested the device seems to be helping somewhat. It's been so hot here I don't feel like using it on a regular basis, but I'm trying to fit in the time. I certainly don't feel taller!, but the pain is subsiding.

Can you relax on it? I have been contemplating one for quite awhile. Has it been worth the cost so far?
