Well, I am posting a day early this year due to the fact that the 4th of July holidays start this weekend and I have my blocks done already for a change. LOL!

Each month a new block (or more) will be posted and a new thread will begin for each new month. I hope many of you will join in and we will have a lot of new quilts to show off in 12 months or less.

You can join in at any time. We'd love to have you!
NOTE: Please be sure to "Subscribe" to this thread so you don't miss anything.

This month there are 2 blocks (chosen by Judith Lickteig - thank you, Judith!). As always, you can do one, two, or none of them. Your choice. These blocks will be yours, so choose your fabrics and quilt away. Make table runners, quilts, wall hangings, or potholders with them - your choice.

NOTE: All patterns come from The Quilter's Cache/Marcia Hohn.
Please read her terms and conditions of use here. http://www.quilterscache.com/TermsPage.html

July blocks:
Album
http://www.quilterscache.com/A/AlbumBlock.html

Annie's Choice
http://www.quilterscache.com/A/AnniesChoiceBlock.html

Please let me know if you would like to choose blocks from The Quilter's Cache/Marcia Hohn (www.quilterscache.com) website for future months, and send me the link(s). I do have enough through the end of this year.

Thank you for joining in.
Happy quilting for all!

Here are my two blocks for this month. Loved making them both.
Here is my Album Block

And here is my Annie's Choice. You can see I used the colors to change it slightly.

Linda, those turned out great (as usual)! I like your use of 3 colors in Annie's Choice! That really made the center stand out. I will try to post mine tomorrow.

I am finally posting this month's blocks. I used scrap fabrics. Have to laugh at myself. I tried Annie's Choice twice. Must have been half asleep when I cut the pieces the first time. (Crooked and points wouldn't match). The second try was much easier. It reminds me of a pinwheel. The purple and flowered fabric is the same in both blocks. So here they are:

Ruthie, quilt blocks are a great way to practice your sewing skillls. They are the first thing I worked on when I got my sewing machine. They are small and easy to work on. I feel like I am still practicing. And every block is a new adventure to me. Besides, you don't have to show anyone if you don't want to. Lol

Ruthie, Judith is right!!! You can usually learn something new when you try out a new block and when it's all finished and pressed, you really feel like you've accomplished something! It doesn't take long and pretty soon you will have a stack of them that you can turn into something really cool. Judith, I love your blocks...purple is one of my favorite colors!

Beautiful blocks, Judith and Debbie. Please join us Ruthie. As stated, you don't have to show us your blocks and they are great practice. And you can use up scraps. LOL

Jump in!!
most of the blocks can be broken in to a 4 patch, nine patch grid. Sometimes drawing them out on graph paper is helpful. I did that alot when I first started quilting.

Ruthie... I am such a remedial quilter... sew don't get discouraged.. get to challenging yourself... discover your inner quilter...

I have a 2" Binder....that I put in those plastic sleeve page thingies.(sheet protectors) ... and I put my block samples in the "sheet protector "
sometimes I have to fold the blocks to fit which is no big deal.....
Just makes it easy visual storage to keep the block /templete & notes tucked in.

As for sewing skills... mine are wonky at best... but... someday the will be fabulous!

Judith, LOVE your blocks, in my favorite color!Katie, I agree with Grace. This grou I am a beginner quilter and jumped in. This group has given me confidence to try more challenging blocks. I have learned to make better color selections, cutting and sewing techniques. I need to catch up, however camping trips are calling.

Grace, just cut the bandanas down to the size of the smallest one plus seam allowance to make them uniform.

I agree with Marie, Grace. Cut them down to the smaller size if you can't find enough that are the same size.

Hi everyone, I'm new here and would love to start working with you on the BOM. My quilting skills are probably REALLY lacking as I haven't used them in over a decade. I know some stuff will come back but I was never really skilled to begin with. I hope to learn new things here! I have a lot of experience in applique but I've never completed a quilt. I have a baby quilt that I started probably 20 years ago but don't know how to finish it. So, I'm here to learn!
