Just wanted to thank everyone for the beautiful postcards that I have received. I really enjoyed the personal messages and the sneak peek to where some of you live, the vacation spots, and the love sent on each card.

Good evening everyone,

I would like to thank Becky in Maine, Ginger in West Virginia, Marlene in Iowa and Linda from Texas for being so very efficient and sending out their post cards so promptly. They have brightened my days.

Hay there,

I received 5 post cards so far. I really enjoy getting them and feeling the connection to all my Farm Girl sisters. I have mine ready to mail and they will go out tomorrow afternoon. I have to say that I was quite surprised to find that post cards are hard to find. You use to go to truck stops and such and they were always there on the spinner. Well, not any more. I went to 5 locations along the interstate and no one had any. So.....I got to make a journey up the mountain to MY local state park. They had a small selection so I was able to get a few there. It was a wonderful drive and very relaxing. It was mid week and no one was on the mountain road but me. Next time I think I will have to order some fancy ones off the internet. Did anyone else have troubles finding cards?

Daizy,

We have a good seletion at our local Welcome Center/Chamber of Commerce and at our local Walmart. I've heard other farmgirls in past postcard swaps say they've had trouble too!

I always buy postcards on my vacations. I never end up sending all of them to grandkids and friends, so this year those I sent to you Farm girls were ones that I've had from previous trips. I hope you enjoy all the fun spots.

Linda...I am just like that. My favorite pcs move was Europe and therefore I have many various postcards from there with which I will be sending. But ALL of the places we went to in Europe were amazing! I so lived your postcard! I love all 4 of the ones I have gotten and they are interesting places too...some of which I've never been! Can't wait to see and receive more!

Hi there!! I just wanted to thank Marlene and Linda for offering to swap with me, individually, after I posted that I was disappointed when I missed the deadline to sign up for this swap. I thought that was very thoughtful, and I enjoyed received the two postcards from them. I mailed mine out a few days ago, and I hope that they have been delivered. (I put the wrong stamps on them...too much postage, actually. Better that than not enough, eh?). Ha! I realized it right after I dropped them in the mailbox. Just wasn't thinking...

Anyway, I look forward to doing this swap next year, and I will certainly be on the lookout for it, so that I don't miss the deadline. Thanks!!!!

(And yes, I, too, had a difficult time finding postcards. I was thinking that we were supposed to send "state" postcards...which I did. However, they were hard to find, and I ended up ordering them online. Now that I know that we can send "any" theme, I will know, next year! )

Beverly,
I'm sorry you missed the signup deadline, but so glad you received some cards.

As for the type of postcard to send, it's not actually "any" theme, but either a card that represents your state OR a favorite vacation spot.
Hope that helps in planning!
Take care!
CJ

Top photo shows the Catalina ferry???, A redwood tree in Prarie Creek State Park, a cowboy, and Alcatraz.
Second row: Old Baldy as seen from the Mojave Desert, Gary Cooper's house, 1943, Death Valley, Blue Lake, 1950, & poppy fields in Antelope Valley
Third Photo: Desert Clouds, Yucca, San Francisco Street Car Terminal For Bay Bridge Traffic, Griffith Park Planetarium, 1950( Hollywood,), Dry Lake Of The Desert, The Torn photo is the Steinberg Aquarium at Golden Gate park,
The dates were postmarks.
I got a kick out of my aunt's comment to my grandma on the Gary Cooper post card. She said her older sister was going to buy a bicycle the next day. "She and I are women with Bank Accounts now! And very proud of ourselves." 1943.
I don't know how much your postage was to mail your post cards....but it was only 1¢ during this time period.

Yesterday I received a colorful post card from Florida, Maryellen Benton. Hadlee said, "Oh look gran, this lady has very nice handwriting."...meaning it is sort of like her own. When she was in fourth grade her teacher told me she thought it was Hadlee leaving her notes when I subbed for her. She was trying to find her style, copying everyone to find what she liked.
When the teacher pointed it out I could see we w r Re almost identical. I have gotten messier. THANK YOU MARYELLEN.

Thanks Dianna, Miss Had is special to us. She will be 17 in late August but seems much younger, due to the brain tumor.
