There are sew many things that jeans can be re-purposed into...
aprons,
tote/purse (BoHo style)
wallets,
rag rugs
denim quilts
even into Holiday hanging stockings (yes I made 20 of them for gifts).

Last summer I made a little wallet thingie... I use it when hubby & I are dashing out and I don't need to lug around my handbag,, so I use this, toss in my Drivers Lic, a tube of lipstick, my cell phone and some cash. It's small enough and yet I can hang it over my shoulder..

my sunglasses or my phone can go in the back pocket and my D.Lic, lipstick & $ go into the front pocket that I can button closed.

this is todays sewing project...

the inside...

the back side...

Easy peasy project to keep my out of mischief!
All in all I have about $2.50 invested. The jeans (girls) was $1 and the fabric was a scrap piece left over from a quilt and I have no idea where the belt buckle came from... lol!

Ironicly if I were to add in 'labor'.. that would come to about $15 so the supplies was the cheapest part,,,

Me, too! I love both of those, Grace. You said back and front pockets. Did you sew the button-down pocket onto another piee of denim?

I've made denim Christmas stockings several times. I plan to make some more and put in my sale stuff this year. I've made a couple purses. I love your pocket purse. I need to look for some blingy pockets.

Yep, I cut a piece of denim from the leg snd then blanket stitched it to the pocket... giving it a double pocket, one open to slide something in and then the (main) button down pocket to keep things secure.

We have a Native American Indian Tribe Casino up here...and they have several restaurants, so once in a blue moon we will go to dinner there... and I use my lil pocket purse...no need to bring a big cumbersome handbag... plus I don't gamble so all I need is my D.L., lipstick and a stick of gum... oh and my reading glasses... lol!

Grace, these are so dang cute! I love the purple floral fabric. It reminds me of Hawaii. I was just thinking of showing these to my friend and see if she would like to join me in making some. We could even make one for her girl. So many ideas!!

Krista...
I hand stitch the lining on to the inside at the bottom of the waist band.
I just measure the fabric to fit inside the jean...stitch the sides and bottom and allow about a 1" hem at the top then iron down the hem... slide the fabric into the jean, pin in place and stitch away.
Also I tack stitch the front (button/zipper) together to kerp the front permanently buttoned...
Hope that makes sence.

I stopped into 2 different Thrifts... and found the uber blingy back pocket jeans (lots of rhinestones) ... but... the one was $9.98 & the other was $10.00... so needless to say, I passed...
I will be heading down the mountain later this week with a gal-pal to do some junktiquing... and continue the search....
How come when I find a fun re-purpose project...all of a sudden it becomes $$$$...
The few jeans I bought were in the dollar range...
and I got the blingy jean that I cut the pocket from...for $3.00
I gave the other pocket to a friend to craft with...
Oh well... i will keep my eyes open...

Ok, finished another one...

I used the drapery weight Toile fabric for the lining, handle and tie...

I found the rhinestone button and lil belt buckle in my stash...

backside of the jeans...

and the lining...
I really need to buy a newer/better camera... this one just doesn't take great photos...

Ok,,, I still need to make 2 more Jean Butt purses.... lots of birthdays coming up! :>)

I have used adult jeans to make a clothespin bag. I love it! I "snaked" a wire coat hanger around inside the waistband to keep the shape, cut it off to fit, and crimped a "hook" on each end of the wire to hook it together. Then I use two of the wire drapery loop/hooks (pear-shaped thing-a-ma-jigs?) to hang it on the clothesline. I'm giong to make more of those to sell, I think.

Nah nah nah nah! I beat you to a project. Here is another for the Texans, or others. A piece of denim and lace, trims, or strips of fabric. (this one used a piece of wood for the blue - so another easy way to do it.)

Of course, it could be made into a US flag, too. LOL! In fact, Meg had directions for a similar one in a July 2015 MJF Sisterhood Issue 2 years ago. Here is the link: http://www.farmgirlsisterhood.org/MJFSisterIssue/NewsletterImages/2015-07.pdf

Here is a picture of the 6 I've put together today.

The blue is denim and there are 5 strips of reds and 5 strips of white/cream (for each color 3 in front and 2 staggered in back). They still need a white star, sticks (I'm going out to look at some branches in the yard) through the channel I made on top and twine to hang it with. With the upcoming Memorial Day and July 4th holidays, maybe I can use up some scraps and sell some of these for RVs or front porches.

Linda would men's ties work instead of ribbons? Every time I'm in the Salvation Army I look at them. Some are so pretty and interesting that I want to do something with them. Years ago I collected them in hopes of making a Victoria crazy quilt but I never did and the ties went to the Goodwill.

Yes, I'm sure you could use ties. Ties are pretty long, and I think each tie could make 2 strips or more. I have a container of ties, left over from a bow tie quilt I made out of them, but many are in smaller pieces. I also have a pattern to make "flower" pins from the ties. Maybe I'll start a new topic for uses for mens' ties and see what other people think.
