Hi guys! As many of you know, I am a homeschooling momma... My 5 year old is using ACE (Accelerated Christian Education) to learn the sounds of the letters... On Friday nights, I try to make meals starting with the letter that he is learning. For example, this week he is studying walrus - W, so we are having Waldorf Astoria Stew (looking forward to trying it Joyce!) and Warm Brownie Pudding for dessert. But the next few weeks have me stumped!!! Ideas would be most appreciated!!! The letters include...
U - V - (I'm thinking something venison...) Q - (I cannot afford quail, lol, which is the only thing I seem to be able to come up with right now)

Hi Shannon! What a cool program to use!!! LOVE IT! How about these:
U: I can’t think of any dinner beginning with a “u”, other than maybe upside down pot pie (crust on the bottom, nothing on the top), or upside down spaghetti (meatsauce on bottom, spaghetti on top), but for dessert, there’s always upside down cake! ;)
V: vegetable soup, vichyssoise (a creamy leek, onion and potato soup) for dinner, velvet cake for dessert
Q: quesadillas, quiche for dinner, quick bread for dessert
Hope these help!

Shannon Here is a link I found. Mostly Greek and Mexican origin. http://www.livestrong.com/article/268995-list-of-foods-that-start-with-x/
What a fun idea! Good Luck!

Shannon, I have a 1900 pioneer cookbook and there was a recipe called Uncle Bud's Fresh Pork Ham. It is simple a leg of fresh port, salt & pepper, clove garlic, and marjoram leaves. Sprinkle salt and pepper on the leg of pork, rub the surface with the garlic and sprinkle marjoram on and back in a 325 degree oven for about 45 minutes. Becky

I'm so glad you found that Lisa... "X" foods are a toughie. All I could think of was Xochitl chips and salsa - maybe nachos? And then maybe hot cross buns for dessert, with "x's" instead of "t's."
Becky that sounds wonderful! I am taking notes right now! Thank you for sharing this recipe!
