Wednesday, 1/24 -- DAYBREAK

I am in the heart of God this dawn of a new day. Time stands still. And I cry;.

I thank the Creator of all things great and small for allowing me the magnificent of this moment.

7:00 a.m. I have been 'wordless' for the last hour as I sat on the African deck of our Tented camp over looking the Serengetti and listened to the morning song of a dozen birds whose sounds I have never heard before. I gaze out into the Serengetti .. a tapestry of greens -- trees unlike any on our continent: marshes, grasslands with the mountains and sky watching over them as a mother tenderly guards her children." JAMBO! Frannie

jambo gurlfrenz .. i adore this tented camp here in the serengetti (as we have loved everywhere we have stayed!) i have kept a very full, concise journal of our journey through africa. and have taken many many many photos! after i get back home .. and have had time to adjust and assemble it all together ... i will pull it all together for a 'book' of my adventures from my own eyes and perspective. i have been overwhelmed with the poverty which is africa .. and of the oppulence that is available to 'tourists with a few pennies in their pockets' (which the poorer natives are quite adept at wresting from our pockets and hands).

i have WALKED with ZEBRA, GAZELLES and GIRAFFE .. I have SAT AMONG the mighty CAPE BUFFALO and have travelled down an 'elephant' path in the thick of the jungle and been surrounded by a heard of elephants (by far .. my holiest adventure here)!!

we travelled extensively through kenya and are now in tanzania. next week we will spend a few days in amsterdam on our way home. i miss you all and will be back on american soil in about two weeks (where i will fall to my knees and kiss the ground and thank God for America).

xoxoxo, frannie

Frannie,
Sounds like the sites and sounds are almost more then the mind can take in. Look forward to your safe return, leave the wild animals there, you have two at home, not counting Hank.

Jambo! You are fortunate, this trip will be a great influence on you. I have a friend who was a nurse in Africa. Yes, we have no idea what we are blessed with.

Africa! How exciting! I have never left the Northwest, so I can only imagine! My husband and I hope to do work and witness mission trips all over the world someday when the kids are grown. It is so good for us to see and appreciate other cultures. Helps us to understand humanity so much more and to realize the blessings we have here in the US. We expect a full-blown movie of your adventure when you return! Hugs and warm thoughts . . .

I think we should all be thankful for where we live. We have it so good here. Everyone should get out and travel at least once to see how the rest of the world survives.

Be safe and have a blast Frannie, and safe travels to ya too!
