Cool! One of the ladies in our machine knitting group made pumpkins and squashes, they were beautiful for decorations (not toys)...
But I clicked on your topic because of the heading - I have been knitting so much lately I hate to stop to fix supper for my husband. I was hoping it was a crockpot recipe.....

Alright, the tofu pincushion and knit sushi pieces (complete with wasabi and pickled ginger!) are killing me. I may have to stop what I'm knitting now just whip up some of these. Too, too cute! Thanks, Jayne!

That is neat. I also crochet. Have you seen their crohet stuff too.
This site is full of good patterns.

Brenda, I know - when I read back the post in the topic list, I did think it sounded a bit strange!
Catherine, it is bad news sometimes finding new patterns as I tend to always want to make the next thing and sometimes other things get left in limbo!

Not exactly knitted food (which has fantastic appeal to me since my favorite toy as a child was play food), but I have a book with directions on how to make fruit cozies. I think it's a nifty concept, especially since I tend to throw an apple in bag and it ends up bruised beyond recognition by the time I get around to eating it.

That is such a great idea - I've never heard of fruit cozies before! Just when you thought there were no new knitting patterns under the sun!! I'd love to see one - have you made one? I am imagining a sort of little drawsting bag, maybe?

I haven't made one yet, but I plan to soon. When I get home today I'll look up the title of the book. They're more of little slings that wrap around the fruit and secure with a button. Really cute.

The fruit cozy book is called "Funky Knits" by Carol Meldrum and Julie Marchington. They call them "fruit protectors" and there is a pattern for one that fits an apple and a banana. The book also has patterns for egg cozies, knit cacti (very kitschy-- great for people who have brown thumbs!) and assorted 'funky' clothes and whatnot.

I just got that book out of the libray last night! I love the Knit cacti. I think I am going to make it for my friend who has a brown thumb as a house warming present. I love the knittng pattern central site for free patterns as well.....so much yarn so little time..... That reminds me of a funny story about when I was in a quilting store. My husband was running errand with me and he came into the fabric store with me. half way through my browsing he said out of the blue "so much fabric, so little time" I just about kissed him right then and there. I was thinking that he got it..he really understood what it is like to have a craft obsession. Then I found out he was reading a sign......we both got a good chuckle out of that.

Jayne- These are really cute! What fun they would be for little ones to play with. Wonder if there is a pattern for a knitted picnic basket? That would be so much fun with all these goodies tucked inside!
I loved those strawberries, they would make cute pincushions and that cherry pie...oh my! Thanks for sharing!
