Yes, most paramedics ARE cute. LOL! Kayaks? I hope you can swim!! Ed and I have thought about getting kayaks - either a 2-person or 2 1-person, but we are both 69 years young, so not sure I could keep up with it long. LOL!

Darlene, me too. I have never quilted before. I can sew. Found out just across town is a quilting shop. I stopped in the other day and asked a bunch of questions. Seems like I don't have the right machine to finish the whole project by myself but I can do most of it. Hubby already thinks I should upgrade. My machine runs by a mule in my backyard rigged to a gear system walking around a circle following a. carrot. At first I said no but our anniversary is in March and it is a big one. It's our pearl anniversary. A Pearl drum set would be cool but I think I will go with a new sewing machine that can quilt. The owner of the shop gave me a lot of info. So I am really excited to get started.

Hi Linda
I am going to be 60 and Hubby is 64 in March. We don't ride the rapids. We like sea kayaking. We only live a hour from the Pacific. It is very relaxing to kayak in the ocean. We like to go to La Jolla Shores. We stay out about an hour to two watch for sea lions and such then cruise back in and get pizza. :) if you fall out of the kayak you won't get hurt but getting back on it can be pretty funny to every one else around ya.

Nancy, I must say I loved your vivid word painting "My machine runs by a mule in my backyard rigged to a gear system walking around a circle following a carrot" :) heehee!! I also love to go kayaking - I'm 34 years and hubby is 37, and we don't ride the rapids...but we love kayaking!!

Nancy, since you haven't quilted before you might want to join in on our monthly Block of the Month (BOM) that I started in the Stitching and Crafting room on the MJF forum.
Here is the link to the January blocks. http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=77739
You choose your own fabrics and make as many or as few of the blocks as you want, because they are yours to keep. Several of the fabric swappers take part. We'd love to have you join in.

I have emailed the list to everyone. Please check your information and respond ASAP if there are any changes. There are 14 swappers. IF someone should sign up before noon today I will add their name and send it on. Have fun!

I will start the Dogs/Cats fabric swap in February. Please keep a watch for it.

Nancy, Temecula is a couple hours from me. A little too far to drive up for a sew day, but the offer stands open if you would like hands on help.

Enjoying the day!

Thanks Cristy... That is really sweet of you. I have a friend at my hubby's work that does quilting and offered to when I need it, but I will keep you in mind if needed.

Yippee, I got my second fabric today and I like it. Bought both online and sometimes you can't judge the size scale of the items on the fabric. Already cut and envelopes addressed. Press tonight and mailing tomorrow. I wish we were close to each other so we could meet and teach each other some techniques and short cuts. We'd probably laugh more than anything.

Here's a picture of a quilt that I think I will make with the fabrics. I love the cornerstone star pattern. It would be very easy to do using squares on the ends of the sashing strips.

My fabric will go out a little later. I am going to wait for Joyce's fabric to arrive from fabrics.com, then I will cut hers, add it to mine, and mail them together.

Yes, I thought so, too. It would work for any of our squares sets.

Lovely quilt Linda. I meant to mail my music squares today...did not happen. I worked, ran to Wal-Mart for hamburger buns, chips and a Whitmans sampler for my husband's 75th Birthday. Guess what, he got a big bag of beef jerky, mixed nuts and a stick of Swiss chocolate. There was not a single box of Whitmans in that store. Then I came home and searched for my Valentine cards I had made for that swap. Whew! I did find them. Then I cooked, for 3 1/2 hours. I guess my efforts were worth it, they loved the food. My son told me to teach Julie. We got to hear about the first day of class at both places. Thankfully they both had good days. Baylee made a new friend.
Oh yes, I hope to mail the fabrics in the morning on the way to work.

Thanks, Marilyn. I can write up the measurements for the corners if you want. It is really pretty easy.

No, not at all. I can write it up. You just add small squares, sewn diagonally, on each corner of the sashing strips. The border is a little trickier, but not that much, it is just not the same width as the sashing strips.
