Ok, sign me up :) I saw this pattern on facebook this morning. The first thing I thought was that it would be great using musical fabrics.

Well, I had a thought this morning, "I wonder if we have some music square swappers signed up". (You see I forgot to subscribe.)
WHAT A SURPRISE! 14!!! Yea, we could have a really big group by the cut off date. I need to go shopping.

Yep - I think we will need 2 yards at least. That' what I'm figuring, anyway. That will do for 28 swappers.

See, Marilyn? You NEED to subscribe!

Wow I am glad I went early and bought my fabric because I was at the fabric store and look again but there was no bolts of music theme. Either they hadn't put them back after my purchase or they ran out..... Whew!

Question
I sew and have made clothes for myself in the past but I never quilted. When I get my squares I want to make a simple patchwork blanket. Can any of y'all recommend a good beginner's book on quilting? You can drop me an email if you wish. Thanks bunches.

Nancy -

There are quite a few books for beginners. You can go to Amazon.com and put in Beginning Quilting and probably see a lot of them. I'll see if I have one here to recommend.

Nancy, why did you choose Tumbleweed as your MJF name? I grew up in west Texas and the panhandle, where tumble weeds were abundant. I loved them. We built forts from them as kids. People stacked them up and spray painted them to use aas Christmas trees.

Hi Marilyn

I volunteer at a nature reserve near my home for years. I didn't like say on the walkie talkies "Nancy to base, come in please". So I chose to use the nickname Hubby gave me years ago. Hubby started calling me Tumbleweed after several trips to the emergency. In 1993 I survived a head on car crash. Got a titanium ankle and middle finger segment out of it. In 2000 I did an endo over my handlebars and broke my wrist. In 2001 I hit a rut while mt biking and landed on my arm wrong and blew out my shoulder. In 2002 I was hiking in the wilderness with my two dogs. Tried to step over a log, lost my footing and snapped my tibia. Ok there I was by myself with my dogs and no cellphone service. I was about a mile from the car. Luckily it was 10am and sunny. So....I started crawling out with a dog on each side. Came along another hiker who called to some other young, healthy and handsome rock climbers to help. Got hauled out by the YHH rock climbers back to my car. Called Hubby because now I have service then spent several hours in the ER waiting for my turn. Came home with a forty ton pink cast or at least it felt like it. This is the short list. I think I am on life 7 of the 9 lives life plan.

But the paramedics are so cute! Actually I promised Hubby I would slow down.... A little. So I took up kayaking. If I fall off I land in water.
