I am interested in learning more about extreme couponing and how and where to get coupons. Sad thing is I only have Dollar General, Walmart, a local grocery store, and Dillons within driving distance. I am a member of a couple of Facebook coupon pages, but they show off what they have acquired and really not a place to learn the ropes. Anyone here have success doing couponing?

I'm happy to share what I know! Learning the coupon game takes time and how you approach it will vary depending on the stores involved. I know Dollar General accepts coupons and so does Walmart of course.
I've learned what I have by scouring coupon blogs, forums, etc.
For Walmart, I usually google "Walmart coupon deals" and click on the link for The Krazy Coupon Lady's site. Each week she'll post the deals available.
Do you get the newspaper? Or are you relying more on being able to print coupons from the internet?
Do you have a smart phone? There are several apps that allow you to bank $ for purchasing certain items. I've not used them much, but I know many do.
I will say, however, that I don't use coupons as MUCH anymore because I am so fortunate in having an Aldi close by. Most of our shopping happens there.
A high percentage of coupons available are for not so healthy things. HOWEVER, there are plenty of coupons for personal care items (toothpaste, shampoo, etc.), cleaning products, pet items and so on.
I see coupons for canned olives, Reese's products (I'll grab cans of water chestnuts" for Jose Ole (I like to stock up on cans of green chiles) and so on.
You'll just learn over time what you prefer to take advantage of.
I've tried several different methods of saving/storing/recording coupons. Happy to discuss that too!
The real trick IMHO is finding a good blog for the store you are focusing on and reading, reading, reading to learn the tips and tricks.
Money Saving Mom is a great general site. I could try and look for others that focus on Walmart, etc. I bet there is one out there for Dillions too! :) |

Sadly, Walmart would be my best bet. I do have Dollar General and Dillons close also. I will read the Walmart coupon Facebook page and see what they have. Thanks for the tips.

I did score free $2 Paper Mate Ink Joy colored ball point pens today and also 25 cent Vaseline lip balm. I also picked up 4 1/2 price Christmas items to put away for next year. I just need to remember not to get carried away buying things I do not really need.

I used to be really big into couponing. I also live in an area that doesn’t have a lot of stores that double coupons. I enjoyed the savings of it and it is always fun to get FREE! However, over time I have relaxed on it. I found that I was buying a lot of stuff that I normally wouldn’t probably buy also much of the coupons are for processed foods, cleaners and makeup. I try to reduce the process foods, and I make my own cleaners (with the exception of a little Clorox cleanup) and I use very little makeup of beauty products.
I use the Walmart savings catcher app, highly recommend it. Dollar General also has a app, and if you watch for the Dollar General $5 off $25 coupon, that can be a great savings and you can also use coupons with that coupon, so double savings!
I also like these:
ReceiptPal app Submit a photo of a receipt or an e-receipt to ReceiptPal. You'll earn points that can be used towards great rewards like gift cards. Weekly sweepstakes give you a chance to win cash bonuses.
Receipt Hog app – Earn Amazon cards
Ibotta app- Cash back on receipts and purchases
I also use Swagbucks or DiscoverCard Deals for online purchases
I do still use the occasional coupon but that is really not often due to digital coupons and apps.

I suggest to only use coupons on things you normally buy or really want to try. I got wrapped up in the frenzy when I began and bought with coupon all kinds of things! LOL
Also be mindful of your stockpile, it is NO savings if things expire before you can use them or donate them. I know this from experience.
