I remember laying the plastic foil icicles, literally 1 at a time, over each branch....
I don't think I have seen any of those icicles around in years,,, I remember reading it was dangerous to pets...

Lorena,, ,I just heard of 'Krampus' the other day while watching a T.V. show...

Ok,,, when was Dr. Seuss's 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' first published?

1957. At the time, it set records for children's book sales.

The Original Tinsel had lead in it, that's why it was changed to plastic.

My mother would only let us put the pieces of tinsel on the tree one at a time, which did look better than just throwing them at the tree. LOL!

Also, with the new plastic tinsel, I remember my cat's litter box having tinsel wrapped leavings. LOL! I guess the cats would swallow the tinsel, so it could definitely have been harmful to pets if they tried to eat it.

whodda thunk it! something as simple as Tinsel could be so pretty yet so problematic...

"What is the 'story' behind candy canes?"

Supposedly invented in the 1670's, in Europe.
The candy canes were inspired by Sheperds crooks(staff) and were give to children to keep them quiet in church... so the story goes...

Madonna can't even get close to Eartha's original!! I love her voice, we have a guy who plays all those oldies on Sunday nights from the University of Memphis. He plays her every week!

Each year more than 3 billion Christmas cards are sent in the U.S. alone. I love Christmas cards! I have kept a lot over the years and used some for crafting.

I use to send out stacks of Christmas cards then about 3-4 years ago I stared paring down my list... But this year,,, for what ever reason,,, the Card sending bug in me sent out nearly 50 cards...
Yep,,, nearly had to sell a pint of blood to pay for the postage!!! lol!

I still love looking at and saving Cards that have been sent to me,,, but this year I donated (last years) the cards to our Senior Center Home for craft projects for the Seniors there... I like that the cards will have a 2nd use.

HoHoHo!

Tonight we are going to a symphony Christmas concert and the soprano soloist (a friend of mine) is singing "The Twelve Days AFTER Christmas." This is a hilarious song. Can't wait to hear her sing it.

Here's a link to the song you can listen to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLYQ1OsKeH8

What do stars placed atop Christmas trees represent?

The Star of Bethlehem that lead the Wise men to Jesus.
