I don't know about you but I am never without a book. Be it a paper and ink or my kindle, I have one with me at all times and I am constantly on the look out for new books (or old) to read. So sisters, I turn this over to you- What are you reading now? How are you liking it?
I am currently making my way through a few books: The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald, The Bookshop by Penelope Fitzgerald, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg, and The Storied Life of A.J. Finkry by Gabrielle Zevin. I am also rereading the Midnight, Texas series by Ms. Harris :)

I just picked up Alan Bradley's latest Flavia de Luce novel, "Thrice the Brinded Cat Hat Mew'D". I love this series and this is book #8. I'm also halfway through "The Summer Before the War" by Helen Simonson. Then I will read Stephen Kelly's second book, "The Wages of Desire". I just finished his first one and really enjoyed this World War II detective series. For non-fiction I'm nearly finished with "The Bird Lover's Garden", by Margaret MacAvoy and Pat Kite.
I am an avid reader and probably read about 10 books per month. I wish I had time for more, but life kind of gets in the way!

I just finished reading two books by Craig Childs - House of Rain and Finders Keepers - a Tale of Archeological Plunder and Obsession. I have enjoyed learning about the natural history, cultures and archeology of the American southwest since I was a young child so I found these books to be very fascinating and am axiously awaiting the arrival of two more of his books.
I just started the first chapter of Ancient Places - People and Landscape in the Emerging Northwest by Jack Nisbet. It was recommended by a friend who also enjoys natural history and cultural landscape subject matter.
Currently I'm half finished with The Hour of Land by Terry Tempest Williams - written in honor of the 100th anniversary of the National Park System in 2016. I'm enjoying it and since she is writing about many National parks that I've never visited it has been fun to follow along with her in my map book. This, of course has led to alot more exploring of the map pages in states I've never been to before. So it's been kind of like reading a book with a bonus armchair travel adventure and I've added some new places to my bucket list that I never knew existed.
And last but not least I'm on the fourth book in the Red River of the North Series by Lauraine Snelling. I am enjoying this series but finding used copies of all the volumes has been an ongoing challenge. Happily I found book four recently so now I can finally finish reading to the end.

I am reading The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. This paperback is 1,107 pages thick. I have to reserve it from the library and it has many people waiting. It will take me months to read this book.

Anne Morrow Lindbergh A Gift From the Sea. Fitting as I am at the coast in Oregon. Just started so I have no idea what it is about as yet.

I just finished The Widow's War by Sally Gunning and it was fantastic. It is a historical novel set in a whaling town of Cape Cod in 1761 and shows the life of a recently widowed woman who fights for her rights under the law for he share of her husband's property. She has grit, unwavering determination, and a passion to be independent and make her own decisions. As you can imagine back then, under English law, women were property and had few rights. She was a Farmgirl at heart in every way. If you are looking for an inspirational read, I highly recommend this book!

Love the tea shop mysteries. I have read all to date. I am still reading "The Joy of Poetry" by Megan Willome, "the life-changing magic of tidying up" by Marie Kondo, "How the Light Gets in" by Louise Penney (mystery), "The Magnolia Story", by Chip and Joanna Gaines.

I just started the next one.The Jasmine Moon Murder. Sortof makes me want to open a tea shop. Actually there's a house along the coast I would LOVE to buy even tho it's in a little town. I think it would be PERFECT for a crafter's retreat. Nobody lives in it right now and when we go visit our 23 year old girl I look at that house and say "You will be mine one day". But that would mean no chickens. So will have to wait. lol..

Brianna, I too am never without a book or my journal. I love to read.
Just finished reading The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World by Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, Douglas Carlton Abrams. What a great book!

Has anyone read A dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron or Hidden figures by Margot Lee Shetterly? They both sound like great movies but I would much rather read the books but can't decide which on first.

Jana, I did see Hidden Figures in the theater and would recommend it! Such a great movie! I plan on buying the dvd when it comes out! I can only imagine that the book is also great! I did peruse it, but I have other books that I need to read before I buy another book! lol

I am currently reading a few things, but the big one is "The Homemade Kitchen" by Alana Chernila! It's been my kitchen bible for the last few weeks!
But I am rereading "Station Eleven" (post-apocalyptic theater/symphony troop traveling around the great lakes) and I just checked out the third book in the "Outlander" series, titled "Voyager"

Dawn, I've always appreciated your book choices, and went online and reserved a few of the Mitford series on CD (listen in car while driving for work). Am looking forward to a change. I have been listening to some Jodi Picoult, and it can get intense for sure.
