I am just finishing up some pineapple zucchini and need to start in on the green tomatoes. What is your best green tomato recipe? Even if you have a couple to share I would love them. I want to try to use up everything I have left. I would like a recipe to preserve, can, etc.

The only thing I have done with green tomatoes is this week I made a relish to ferment and used 4 green tomatoes. I may try drying some to blend into a powder to use in chili and Tex-Mex seasoning. The local fruit/veggie stand has green tomatoes.

Hi Kem, one year we had a harvest of about 75 pounds of Green Tomatoes, so here is what I made:

Green Tomato Pie which is wonderful: http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/green-tomato-pie

Green Tomato Salsa: https://www.freshpreserving.com/green-tomato-salsa-verde---ball-fresh-preserving-br1033.html

Green Tomato Chutney

Four cups peeled and chopped tomatoes
Two-third cup chopped onion
One-quarter cup yellow bell pepper, seeded and chopped
One small garlic clove, minced
One cup packed light brown sugar
Two-third cup cider vinegar
Two Tablespoons peeled and minced fresh ginger
One teaspoon coarse Kosher salt
One Tablespoon mustard seed
One-quarter teaspoon ground turmeric
One and one-half teaspoons grated lemon zest
One cup golden raisins

Place all ingredients in a large, nonreactive pot, and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer until the mixture is very thick, 1- ½ to 2 hours. Let cool slightly. Ladle into hot sterilized half-pint jars and seal. Yield: 1-½ pints.

I have also made Green Tomato Mincemeat and will need to dig up that recipe :)

We were gifted some green tomatoes this year. I chopped them and flash froze them. I recently made some enchiladas and sauteed the chopped green tomatoes with peppers and onions and they came out great. Even my honey liked the addition :)

I love to make green tomato pie. Basically, it is the same as apple but it uses sliced green tomatoes instead.

Thanks for the recipe. I did go ahead and make some green tomato pickle relish. It turned out fairly good. I will probably try a green tomato pie for my hubby. Thanks again for sharing recipes.
