Anyone here painted a piece of furniture using the plaster of paris recipe and match a color of the Annie Sloan paint? I am interested in how you did it. I did a bedroom set that I created something very close and it turned out great. Anyone else doing this, if so, please post a picture.   I am interested in smaller pieces I could sell at flea markets, craft sales, etc. I am sorry the pictures are not better, camera has a mind of its own today.

| Thanks, It was a lot of fun. I hope to do some more pieces. There is a very high end pricey store in a town 40 miles for me that I love to go in. They do Annie Sloan paint and have wonderful pieces that cost more than I can afford to pay. They also have wonderful home furnishings and jewelry. |

I don't know anything about the paint either, but I really like how your furniture turned out. That color looks fabulous and I would love to have furniture like that. I hope you can make more to sell. Good luck!

It is a lot of fun. I am going to look for other pieces to paint. Although, if I do, I am going to have to get rid of some furniture in my house. It is dangerous living on the same farm for 40 years.

I am an Annie Sloan addict. I have tried making my own, but it got SOO thick and I gave up. The AS is pricey, but I have had such good results, and it covers so beautifully, and you use SO little, that I keep going back.
Your pieces look lovely. I will post some of my pics when I get some time.. (LOL)

Lisa, I would love to see your AS furniture. I have done two head and foot boards for beds and a vanity dresser. Oh, I almost forgot the bedside table. I want to do more, but have not found the right pieces yet. Please pictures!!!!!

| For all of you that want to do Annie Sloan paint pieces there is an alternative. Both Sherwin Williams and Behr paint have conversion charts to get Annie Sloan colors in their paint. Go to Pinterest and search Annie Sloan conversion chart. We painted some pieces for my sister and they turned out great!!!!!! |

Kem...on one of the fb pages.... a saw where a gal did something similar when she decorated vtg. Train cases.... the p.p. gave a nice 'relief ' look.
But I think she used gesso in with the plaster of paris mix...
I will try and see if I can find her and get the scoop.
I am pretty sure she used A.S. chalk paints as well...
I will get back to you on this.

| Grace,I would be interested in knowing what the gal used. I am getting to do a large china hutch. I think it will be the duck egg blue with standard wax and then the dark wax. I want a china hutch to display some of my glassware I have stored away. I decided it is too pretty to keep out of sight. I keep telling myself if I don't like it I can repaint it. I also just bought a small bed side stand I want to paint. My sister-in-law did a grey and dark grey wash on my grandfather's office desk. It turned out awesome!!!! No one had wanted the desk so she took it years ago and now is in her living room. It looks stunning. |

Kem,,, still searching for the info on using p.p. & gesso to give a 'relief' effect...
I have a friend who even used Annie Sloane paints on the vtg. trailer... and then the wax...
It has been a year since she did, and so far it's held up... that being said, she stores her trailer in the horse barn....

Kem,,, here is what I found....:
" use gesso to prime the case first. Then use Modeling paste to do the raised stencils. Then paint with either chalk paint or acrylic paint or both, then seal with polycrylic. "
