Just wanted to shout out a GOOD MORNING! It's a nice morning today where the house is quiet, my chores are done, all is caught up...and I have some spare free time! We are due for a relaxing weekend day here at our house.
I think I will start with cutting out a new sewing pattern. I'm going to make a Halloween apron with vintage print fabric and vintage fabric trim. What's on your sewing table?
I also need to make a batch of dill pickles. I think this is last call on the cucumbers. I might do a few other pickles, carrots, perhaps. My family only eats MY dill pickles after I started making them, so I need to do those for sure. Any canning going on?
Rain is heading our way so weeding is not happening. Kinda happy for that, because once I start I end up spending so much time outside I get too worn out for anything else.
I will knit and watch a movie I promised my dd I'd view with her, so that will be late afternoon.
Then I'll make a yummy dinner. Promised dd a yellow squash casserole (it's great for big squash) so I will do that with some potatoes and a maybe a meatloaf.
What's your Saturday like today?

Good morning Nicole. You have a busy day ahead of you so you better eat a Texas size breakfast.
I got up at five and have let the morning slowly move around me. I'm still on my first cup of coffee - took that long for the Starbuck coffee to drain for cold brew.
I read another chapter in Isiah; finished a toilet paper roll pocket; fed Annie and let her outside / back inside; watched Fox News; and played on my laptop.
Been moving at snail pace ~ hope to speed up to a duck's waddle by noon. Mid-morning I will take eggs to a neighbor. My sister dropped them by the other day.
Nicole you have your day laid out and you know what you hope to do. The more I think about my day, and what I want to do, the more I just want to write piddle in my MJF Planner. Yep, piddle works for me.
While I was writing this my sister called and wanted to know if I felt the tremor. I had. My computer table shook for several seconds and I said to myself OK is having another earthquake. I haven't heard anything on the news but might later. Also the local 6pm news should say something.

I always love reading a day in the life of a farmgirl. Meatloaf, pickles, knitting, Texas breakfasts, earthquakes!!!! ...
I'm going to fit some piddle in around my work and repot some house plants, fold clothes, long hand some letters, organize a pile of B&B bed linens I've been looking at for weeks and enjoy the fall weather we're having. Also, I'm going to dine on the bounty of my garden, the tomatoes and cucumbers along with some fresh Mozzarella cheese my DIL made earlier in the week.
Do we have a new Farmgirl of the Month yet? I'll have to go check. I have something cute and Halloween ready to send.

Good morning Nicole, I took the dogs out and it was cool this morning for Texas, then fed the dogs. Drinking my hot tea and looking at e-mails etc., thinking what I need to fix for dinner. Fettuccine Alfredo which I make the sauce and the pasta from scratch along with the bread I baked up yesterday. I need to do some laundry today also. Work on my cross-stitch. Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all! Today my husband and I will venture out to San Pedro Fleet Week using public transportation. Yes we could drive out there, but we have a fairly new metro line that with one transfer we wont have to worry about traffic or parking. I envy Nicole with the forecast of rain and wish she can send some of that over to Southern California, as we sure could use some being several years of a drought.

Been out with my dog, Bramble, for a 2 mile walk. Now finishing breakfast and will go with hubby to move the cows back to the their regular pasture. They get moved "across the lane" to graze for breakfast and then again for supper. We leave them over there for about 2 hours. Will help hubby set irrigation sprinklers in the pasture and fill the cows water tub. Probably check on the garden . . . perhaps see if it's time for thistle digging. My oldest sister and her daughter are visiting from Denver, so sometime they'll be over and we'll see what kind of mischief we can get into then. But we're grilling burgers (our homegrown beef) and vegetables from the garden for supper. Thankfully we mowed the lawn on THursday . . . just in time for a good overnight rain shower. Yesterday hubby and I took ourselves out to lunch and then on a drive into the mountains to hunt chokecherries. Found some trees but it's way past the season. Found about 1/2 cupful . . he's going to try to dry them and plant them. We DO have one tree on our place that grew from seeds he planted years ago, but the birds got all the chokecherries. Anyway, kind of a "as it unfolds" day for us! CJ

Hello Everyone,
Today is catch up with Mary Jane's Farm Day for me.
For the last two days my husband and I have been canning vegetable juice. I was in the kitchen 13 hours the first day and 11 the next day. Got 57 pints of juice canned. It sure takes a lot of prep time to make this juice, but it is worth it. So today is laundry, and Mary Jane day. Later off to my Mom's for movie night with my sisters and cousin. Think we are watching Oliver Twist tonight. There has also been time for me to place an order for more Catherine Cookson books. I do like to read her stories.
Just hung our bedspread out in the sunshine to dry. It will smell wonderful tonight. Love hanging laundry outside every chance I can. Otherwise, we hang it inside on drying racks. Some people wouldn't care for drying racks in their living room, but that is where the wood stove is and it sure saves on the electric bill. Also, clothes last a lot longer. Think I will squeeze in some reading also. I really want to find out how my book ends.
Tomorrow is soon enough for housework. Everyone needs a day off once in awhile. The weather is beautiful here today. Sunning and in the 70's. Wish it would stay like this, but I hear the heat is coming back for a record high September here. Who knows maybe the beans will finally blossom and we will get some green beans for the freezer.

Hi Brenda...you sound like you are having a nice relaxing day so far! Wow...all that tomato juice canned must feel like quite an accomplishment and indeed you must need a little personal TLC time. Movie night sounds like a lot of fun! And you mentioned Catherine Cookson books...I have never read anything by her but will check out her genre later. I love Mysteries mostly, then Beach Reads, also Courtroom Drama's, and Thrillers. I always have my nose in a book. LOL My favorite magazine is Bella Grace...a journaling magazine.
So far my day started out with a 5 mile walk...which I do 6 days per week and take Sundays off to rest. It was a cooler walk...first time I have had to wear a light weight jacket in months but it started to sprinkle about the last mile. I push my Scotty dog in a pet stroller the entire five miles. So, I feel like I am getting double exercise. LOL Came home and made my morning Smoothy, was still a bit hungry so had a small bowl of oatmeal. Now I am checking my email, Mary Jane Farms and FB. Then I will probably need a short nap and hubby and I will go to Barnes and Noble later and spend a couple of hours there. We do that about 4 days per week. We love books and the Cafe allows us time to enjoy each other, the books and a coffee and time to relax in our favorite atmosphere. I managed two Christian Book Stores and loved my job! A Book Worm needs Books around her no matter where she is. It is kind of funny because my husband never use to go with me...so I took my youngest son all the time. But once he moved out and was on his own...I talked my husband into going with me one day...and he was hooked from then on. He said, "I never could understand why you did this all the time...I thought it would be so boring...but I really like it!" And he has gone with me ever since. That gave my youngest son and I quite a chuckle as we had invited him so many times before. Actually for years. Now, if I'm having a bad days from my Fibro my husband will go without me.
I envy you the ability to hang clothes outside. I live in an Apartment (we downsized once the kids left home) and you can't hang clothes out doors. But I too love that Fresh Air Smell...particularly in bedding and bath towels. You just describing it brought back those memories.
Also, when I was walking out side today...a lady had just finished mowing her lawn and the rain falling lightly on the new mown grass...smelled heavenly. I took several very deep breaths of it.
I plan to go tomorrow with my youngest son and his family to The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island. They have a corn maze that we go through, they have a petting zoo for our little ones to enjoy, an inside Farm Produce Store, a Gift Shop and they sell food there too so that you can have a nice little Lunch there. It has become a fun family tradition. We go the first weekend it opens because there are less people then. As it gets closer to October the busier they get.
Well, have a Lovely Day and Evening and it was fun sharing with you. We miss you on The Porch!
Hugs and Smiles, Peggy

Laundry, cleaning, meals for the DH while I go to the big city. Garden is all but done potatoes need to be brought in and the onions and carrots pulled. Making salsa from some tomatoes the neighbor brought over I didn't get but about 10 off of 20 plants. Zucchini is ready to go to church tomorrow to share. Rest of the day in my sewing room.

I started my morning with a sleep-in! The kids stayed at Grandma's last night as DH and I went out and it was nice to get to just laze a bit this morning. Then I went and taught 4 hours of dance classes. After that I started in on tomatoes....I have a bushel that I am in the middle of cutting and saucing. That will cook through today and into tomorrow when I will finish canning it. Taking a break to hop online quick and order some dance costumes for the studio. Then back to tomatoes.

Nicole - Just today a friend asked me for a squash recipe. Would you mind sharing your squash casserole recipe? Thanks!

I just kicked DH out of the house because he was following me around asking me to make decisions about stuff I do not want to do and are not my problem.
Tasks for today:
*Do dishes *Clean cat litter box *Wash kitchen floor *Read old emails *Write Letter to Sister *Make dishcloth

Peggy Ann, I could cover walls with the books I have collected and continue to read and refer to. Life would be so boring without them. I saw a counter for a divider between a kitchen and dining room that was made out of books. It had a nice top on it and cupboards on the kitchen side and a place to sit on tall stools on the side with the books. The neat thing about it is that you could pull out a book and read it and then replace it and pull out another. A great way to make more room for beloved books.
Today we missed church because of car troubles, but we got the car all cleaned inside and out. My DH vacuumed the inside and washed down the outside. I washed all the windows inside and outside and wiped down the interior.
My DH also swept the kitchen and then I mopped it. He shook all the rugs and I put them in to wash and hung them to dry. Leftovers for supper. What a Great day. The weather is great too!
Marie did you get everything done while you DH was out?
Diana hope you had a good time in the big city.
Jenn what kind of dance classes do you teach. I love to watch Dancing With The Stars. My daughter and I really liked Bun Heads, but it didn't stay on for very long. We do have a collection of dance movies that we enjoy.
CJ, I'm with you. Holidays make for too many crowds.
Hope everyone has a great day!
