Yep... Hildy has demodectic mange---just around 3-4 spots on her coat. Apparently, I was informed by the vet, it is contracted when puppies are nursing their mums. We've been getting her 'dipped' every two weeks and yesterday was her third dip. Still has the mites after the 'scraping' so in another two weeks she gets dipped again. The expense is incredible, but what's a person to do?

Is there anything 'natural' I can apply to her coat or have her ingest with her puppy chow that will aid in getting rid of these little buggers? I've checked online and there is a plethora of advice. Just wondering if any of you have experienced this with your furry friends....

I am so sorry to hear about your sweet Hildy. I have actually never heard of it before. Hopefully you can find a solution that works best for you and Hildy. Good luck.

An old treatment for mange is raw apple cider vinegar. Dilute with water for a 1 to 1 solution. Use less vinegar if too strong. Apply directly to skin. I never used it but I do use acv for home remedies. Hope you find relieve for your pet soon.

I just picked up a bottle of raw apple cider vinegar! I will begin tomorrow. This afternoon, I went ahead and made blend of coconut oil and cedarwood essential oil-the oil I had left over from my soap supplies-I warmed it up and applied it to her spots with a q-tip-she only has less than a handful of tiny spots- and then did an overall rub down of her coat. She is eating plain yogurt a heaping TBSP once a day and for weeks now I have incorporated just enough olive oil to moisten her puppy chow once a day.

My vet was no help at all....she insisted there was NOTHING over the counter that would take care of this ONLY the dips! I couldn't believe it. The mange suddenly appeared after she had a slew of vaccinations including one I thought she was too young for but the vet claimed she had the weight she needed so administered the vaccinations. I just read today where an onslaught of vac's sometimes triggers it. We are going to hold off on the 4th dip scheduled in two weeks and on a vaccination she is due for. If any new patches appear I will definitely bring her in. For now, I've thoroughly washed and disinfected her bedding and crate and will continue with what I have been doing for the last couple of days. I seriously don't know how families can afford a dip every two weeks! Besides the cost of the dip-I am charged for having her stay at the vets while they administer it! I was told it could take up to 6-9 dips to take care of this. I find that very hard to believe. I also read that after a while the dips do absolutely nothing. Hildy has such a beautiful coat even now and she isn't itching at all which is a relief. I'll see how it goes after I start adding the apple cider vinegar. Thanks ladies for the GOOD advice!!

I'm sorry you and Hildy are going through this. I have no advice as I've never had to deal with it and don't know anyone who has. I do know that the raw ACV works for a lot of things! Hoping there is resolution and healing soon!
Hang in there!
