I am back and better than ever!!!

Grab some sweet tea and sit back and enjoy!

I will get right into it. I have missed my farmgirl ways. I have felt lost for the past 6-7 years. It's hard to explain in writing, but I feel like I have been spinning my wheels or doing things that are not me or for me but I thought were me and not being who I am. Does that make any sense?

Well, 2 years ago, I jumped ship at work and quit healthcare for good. D-O-N-E!!! I shocked a lot of people and lost a lot of "friends" but that is ok, I was starting to finding ME and what I wanted in life. The short version is I don't have time for BS anymore. I don't put energy into people who, at the end of the day, would not have my back or even truly care what is going on in my life- no longer a pawn. I can be friendly if I see them and say hey but I don't invest a lot in people anymore, I prefer cultivated and deep relationships with few.

So I went back to college to get my Masters in Education. It's been a great challenge but it's allowed me to grow into who I really am and I have completely changed our lifestyle around. I am not the typical teacher that hoards items, which is usually do to lack of funds from the school district. I can still give my students what they need and I am doing it frugally and also, I am trying to do it in a green way. I watched students throw out unused work books that last day of school, right into the dumpster. It broke my heart. I want to have a certified green classroom and I am finding all kinds of cool ways to do that. Ideas from y'all would be well accepted!!!

I gave away all of my corporate clothes and I kept NOTHING, not even for what if or someday. I wear my boots and jeans and baseball caps, 24/7 if I can. LOL It's been so freeing. I am going with what I like and what I need and what feels good. I have some nice things for work, but most schools I have been in are very casual, the most dressy thing I own is a pair of ballet flats and 1 cotton dress and I love it that way!!! I found a $7 dress at the thrift store for all my interviews and donated it right back once I was hired.

We have downsized quite a bit after some hit and misses in retail therapy and trying to get our finances under control. I have gone back to learning how to find alternatives to items I use in my everyday life but the bigger challenge is how to eliminate items, as in do I really need this?

Our goal right now is to find a little house with some land. We just need country space right now, craving it. We just want to slow down our lives, a bit and as best we can and the country always does that for us.

Sorry this is all over, I am just writing as it comes out.

What else? Life is going on. I am finding it's ok to let go of things that no longer serve me- things, people, ideas, thoughts, hobbies, etc and it's been quite a list. People have said I am not as nice as I used to be, no darling, I am not a pushover anymore. Like I said, I set A LOT of boundaries and just value my time too much now.

So what are y'all up too???

-Heather

Welcome back, Heather! Glad you're back and things are looking positive for you!
Sometimes we need to make changes in our lives and lifestyles that seem radical to some but turn out to be the best thing for us.
Hope you enjoy the farmgirl lifestyle again!

Lots of older homes here in east Texas, Heather, many with acreage. Take a look up this way.

Welcome back, Heather! Glad to see you are being the real you and doing what's important for you! I hope to get to know you a little better around the farm! I love hearing how you plan to change your classroom. A couple years ago I was a preschool teacher and I was always looking for ways to repurpose our classroom items. Good luck! Enjoy your sweet tea and relaxation!

Welcome back Heather...Change can be a very Good thing in ones life. It sounds like you have cleaned out all the things that didn't really make you happy nor fulfilled in life. Like shaking out the rugs. Some times it just takes a brief shake and sometimes you have to hang them on the line and beat the tar out of them. LOL. I hope you and yours will find that little bit of Heaven you are looking for out in the Country.

Blessings and Hugs,
Peggy
