Probably what is happening is that when it rains, mud gets splashed onto the plants. This can lead to a disease which kills them. Mulch well around the tomatoes, straw is good, and when it rains the mud won't splash onto the plants. I did this with my plants, and we have recently had a LOT of rain, and they are thriving. I haven't done this in the past, and my tomatoes this year are the best I've ever had. Cindy
