To all you great knitters, please help me out! I am a new knitter, knitting my first pr. of socks and have gotten through the top ribbing and when I start the main part of the sock (which is SUPPOSED to be just plain knitting) the knit side is on the inside and the perel side is on the outside. I don't think the sock is inside out because the ribbing is as it should be, little slanted threads on the outside, little bumps on the inside.

I belong to a knitting group that meets on Wed. but I am SOOOO anxious to work on them that I can hardly wait until then! I'm sure it is something stupidly easy and can be fixed, I just can't figure it out. Any help?

Did I mention that this is the second time I have done the same sock, it happened on the first sock too and I just thought I had it turned inside out ans ripped it out. So frustrating!

Thanks guys, Cindy

Don't give up... I also am TRYING to learn to knit socks....Well! guess what??? My sock comes out looking like.......I am not sure but I don't think it's nice ,NO HEEL.

I have signed on at two different knit stores (each one,st least 20 away and they have NEVER ever called me back....So I keep trying myself....

I wish,Oh how I wish. The MJF girls could "meet" for knitting classes...We could use my House....

Margie, what time? I'll be right over! :) Would love to knit with MJF Farmgirls...sigh...

Cindy, check out this link:

http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/SockClass_Beginning.htm

A Farmgirl posted it a while back and it's a great resource for the first-time sock-knitter. It's about 20+ pages long and VERY detailed with photos, so you should be able to get to the spot where you messed up and learn how to fix it.

Don't feel bad about doing the sock over and over. I've been knitting for 6 years and have knit countless socks but just yesterday, I had to re-do the toe on my husband's sock about ten times before I got it right! Knitting for the process, not the result, right? :)

Keep on knitting, and let us know how it works out!

Arrgh, speaking of sock mistakes -

i am having a problem. I tried to knit a pair with one skein of clearance yarn. I wanted to buy two skeins but there was only one left, and I liked the color and the yarn. So, I asked the lady in the yarn shop if she thought I could get two socks out of it. She said, well, maybe, if I knitted the heels and toes in a contrasting color.

So, I'm almost done with the second sock today, and I ran out of yarn 25 rows short of the end. SO, now what am i going to do? Start over with the feet part of both socks and make stripes? I hate unknitting......
