Hi Gals - my garden area is overflowing with wonderful chickweed. Have you any ideas on how to use it? I was going to make a tincture or maybe you have a recipe for a chickweed ointment?

I use it in salves liberally... but mostly we EAT it. It tastes fresh and green, a little like fresh from the garden peas. I also grab handfuls and toss them to the chickens (when they are penned for true breeding) for healthy greens.

I have used it to sprinkle in salads. Real fresh tasting. And like Babs said, Chickens love it. MB

YEA! I was going to say chickens go crazy for the stuff

My husband uses it in salve form I guess you could boil it and blend w/ a carrier oil or wax base

We buy the salve and hubby uses it to retain hhis "youthful appearance" his mother uses it in the summer she says it keeps mosquitoes away if not kept in the frige it smells rank

Bet it is tasty in a salad here in the south it really starts to take off mid-February and will really continue to grow in shady corners of the house even in the summer
