Jo! Yes! I have a favorite mitten pattern, but it's such a blur of two or three other patterns that it used to be all just in my head. I just knit up another pair (because I keep losing them, how awful is that? to lose a pair of your own handknit mittens?!) and actually wrote down the pattern this time.

Just like cooking in the kitchen, I keep changing the "recipe" a bit each time, but this time I think I got it. I plan to type it up to add to my knitting files and would be happy to email it to you!

Photos of my new favorite mittens just posted to my blog, take a look!

I love to collect knitting patterns - can never have too many!! Would love your pattern, too!!
Speaking of mittens, I just saw the movie The Holiday - I enjoyed it. But my question is, does anyone have a pattern similar to the mittens Cameron Diaz is wearing in an early scene? They are fingerless mittens, but they have like a little 'cap' (can't think of any other way to describe it) that goes over the fingers and is buttoned on to the body of the mitten. Does that make any sense?
See the crazy things I look at in movies?!! Took my girls to Charlotte's Web yesterday - loved it, loved it - and loved the aprons and dresses, too!
Happy knitting all,
Jayne

Hi Jayne!

I will finish typing it up and will send it your way. I didn't see the movie you mentioned, but I have various patterns for similar mittens...will share what I have!

If anyone has any good crocheted mitten patterns, I'd love some! Esp. mittens with simple color changes...

Catherine-Do you have a good beginner's pattern without the finger flap? Wondering if you would be willing to share. I've looked at patterns on-line that seem a little overwhelming to me.

Blessings,

Missy

I sure do and since I've got your address from the Hot Socks Swap, I'll drop it in the mail to you! Very easy mittens on two needles. I made mittens from this pattern as one of my first projects...and promptly lost them. What is it about me and losing mittens?!

Catherine- Thank you sooo much. Don't feel bad, I can't keep track of gloves, keys or sunglasses. I've been that way all my life. My Mom used to buy the elastic straps with the clips on both ends so she could attach my mittens to my coat sleeves. I'm not sure that worked either?! haha

Thanks again and blessigns,

Missy

HA! Thanks for the reminder that I'm to send this mitten pattern out too! (I just sent the two-needle mitten pattern photocopies out by post to peapodjane and Missy - glad you like the pattern! [not mine]) The flip-top one (mine) is halfway typed up on my computer and I will get back to it today with The Boy takes his morning nap.

Jayne - I sent you something else by post which should arrive soon, but the mitten pattern will be a PDF over email.

Happy Knitting!

Catherine

I'm pretty sure I have a crocheted mitten pattern,I will look around and try to find it (a bunch of my books are in the shed) .
When I find it, I'll get your address and mail you a copy of it.

Thanks so much, Catherine - more farmgirl mail to look out for - my hubby is always asking who these girls are, who just send things all the time. I suppose in this competitive, every man for himself world, he can't understnad people that would do something for nothing. So thank you so much, to all farmgirls, for helping to restore his faith in humanity.
There, my little rave for this morning, it is 5 am here, so maybe I am not fully awake yet!
Happy knitting,
Jayne
