Sara -

Sounds like our stashes are great friends. I, too, could quilt across several towns. LOL!

Did you also want to join in on the floral swap? I don't want to leave you off if you intended to join.

Looks like we will need to get 2 yards of each of the 2 fabrics. This will be a great quilt!

Kathleen, I received a second envelope of fabric from you today! What a sweetheart! Such pretties! Also, received your envelope not only of the description of the first fabrics you sent; but for the rest of your fabrics too! What a lot of work! You rock, FarmGirl! Thank you!

im getting a little confused,i thought we waited til sign-ups ended before sending out fabric...how else do u know how many and who to send them to. and I thought the farmgirl who started the swap sent everyone a list of everyone who signed up, name/addresses, in this case Linda. But Kathleen I did not receive any floral fabric from you...I can e-mail you my address.

Yes, please wait until sign ups end and the listing is sent to everyone. That way you can check names off and make sure no one is left off. Thanks you all for waiting.

Has anyone seen the newest JoAnn's brochure with the red/white/blue floral quilt on the front? It would be very pretty using our floral fabrics and white. I can write it up and send directions, if anyone is interested.

I haven't seen it yet, Linda! I'll stop there today. However, I would love a copy of your pattern if you write it up. I love your patterns, Linda! Thank you for the offer!

Here's a bad picture of the JoAnns ad. I will write it up - it can easily be made.

Using our floral squares (or any 10" squares) your finished block size will be 9-1/2".
All seam allowances will be 1/4".

To make it like the picture, you will need a solid white or a white Tone-on-tone fabric for the borders on the smaller squares. The amount of white needed will vary depending on the number of blocks in your quilt.

NOTE: For those beginning quilters in this group, a Tone-on-tone (T-n-t, tnt) fabric is like a white pattern on a white fabric or a yellow pattern on yellow fabric, etc., with no other color.

1. Depending on the size quilt you want to make, select some of your 10" blocks to remain whole. You may want to choose the larger prints for the 1-piece blocks, but that is up to you.

2. Select 1/4th of the number of 10" squares selected above and cut each one into four 4-1/2" squares. This would mean that there are 4 identical bordered squares in your quilt. Or you can use all different 4-1/2" squares, but this would mean cutting more of your 10" squares and having smaller pieces of fabric leftover. (Piece A)

3. Cut your white fabric into several 3-1/4" strips. (Piece B)

4. For each 4-1/2" square, from your 3-1/4" strips, cut 2 white pieces 4-1/2" long and 2 white pieces 10" long. (NOTE: I would suggest cutting four 10" strips from one of your cut strips, and cutting eight 4-1/2" strips from another.) (Piece C)

5. Sew a piece B to opposite sides of piece A. Press seams toward the center square.

6. Sew a piece C to opposite sides of piece made in Step 5. Press seams toward 10" white strips.

7. Lay out your quilt top alternating bordered squares (with the 10" strip at the top and bottom of the blocks) with 10" solid squares.

8. Sew your squares together in rows. Press seams toward the solid squares.

9. Sew your rows together, pinning at each seam allowance.

10. Add borders as desired.

If this is clear as mud to you, please let me know. I'd suggest making a sample block first, before you cut all your fabrics. I will also send a PDF of this pattern with the list of names for the swap on the 16th.

Have fun.

Please let me know if you try it and something is incorrect. That's why I suggest making ONE first, before cutting all your fabrics.
