My stepdaughter has a two-year old daughter. This little girl has been fighting to live since the day she was born, since she had a congenital heart defect. She has had multiple heart surgeries and has had some brain damage resulting from some of the treatments and illnesses she has had.
My stepdaughter is a registered nurse but had to give up her job in order to help provide the round-the-clock nursing care and therapy that her baby needed.
In the last month Breonnah has had pneumonia 6 times. Evidently her lungs are also damaged.
My stepdaughter and I were not close when she was a child, as she grew up in Germany, but when her daughter was born she needed someone to stand in as family as her mother and father (my ex-husband) were not available for emotional support, for whatever reasons they had.
My heart just bleeds for this poor little girl and also for her other four older children whose lives have revolved around Breonnah's treatments for the last two years.
Please send your prayers up to heaven for this family who has really been struggling for the last two years, and is in crisis mode now. I believe our Father in heaven hears and answers prayer, and your support is appreciated.

Brenda - You and your family will be in our prayers. Such a little one to have so much trouble and your step daughter does have a hard journey. It's so hard to find balance when there is someone who needs so much of you. I hope they are a strong family for each other. Your compassion can only help to ease what must feel so awful for all of them. Sometimes small acts of kindness when you think you have reached your limit are what keeps you hanging on and not feeling completely lost. A break, a dinner delivered, kids picked up, a load of laundry done all these things were done for me when we were in the midst of my Dad's illness. I didn't ask and they didn't ask me what I needed, my friends just showed up and got done what I couldn't. I knew people cared about us and it helped so much. It was a valuable lesson for me, I never ask what do you need any more. I just do something that needs to be done. You will all be in my prayers.

Brenda, I am praying too. Such a hard situation. Bramble's words are very wise indeed. Just jump in and love these folks through your actions. Nothing is better than that. Joyous Christmas to you! Rhonda

I will lift your family up in prayer daily for a joyous Christmas and hope througout this year. Does she have a hole in her heart- I ask becuase I have heard of a procedure with "angel wings" which fills the hole and helps it repair itself. sending you and yours all the best.

Thank you all so much for your prayers. My stepdaughter lives over an hour away so it is difficult to work in a visit, as it usually means at least a half-day trip. I probably don't do enough to help. It is kind of weird getting a "new" addition to the family tree at this stage of my life, and I haven't really made the adjustment. No excuse! But I would like to do more. I will post any updates here the next time I talk to them. They are invited, but may not attend, because of Breonnah's condition, the family get-together we have planned for Boxing Day (the day after Christmas).

| What a beautiful name Breonnah has! Isn't it amazing how God connects us all at the time we need it? Sometimes we are the biggest blessing to someone when all we do is listen. God gives us miracles every day and I will be praying for one for this precious little girl. And I will also be praying that He opens your heart completely to these new additions to your family. Breonnah was born for a reason. Maybe you hold the key. With love and prayers, Susan |

I just talked to my stepdaughter and she says Breonnah is doing OK for now - actually the pneumonia has been coming and going since September. They put her on an antibiotic and it clears up, then 72 hours later she is feverish again. She has been having seizures also, so that is something else they are dealing with. But as of today she has been off the antibiotic for 2 days and so far so good.
Breonnah has lost most of her hearing because of the brain damage. My stepdaughter says she is trying to organize some local education programs tailored for deaf children -- they are looking around for preschool programs for next year that would be able to handle some, if not all, of her special needs and they are not finding much available. She has invited some other local mothers of deaf children to see what they can organize.
Mostly it sounds like my stepdaughter is just really tired. She has nursing help during the day but she is the one who is up with Breonnah all night. It sounds like she is a little discouraged about getting the educational program organized -- just takes too much energy that she doesn't have to give right now.
Thank you all for keeping this family in your prayers.
I'm going to take their Christmas presents down tomorrow so I should have a first-hand update.

Brenda, my prayers go out to you and Breonnah and her family. Your step-daughter is lucky to have you, even if it just to talk to on the phone sometimes. Many times when you are struggling it is just good to have someone who will just listen. I know you are doing the best you can. We are all praying for you and as Michele says, be stron and have faith. Kel |
