Family Matters:  One month since Amish shootings  |

I can hardly believe that it's been a month since this happened. I will try to fill you all in on what I know now.
The Amish community has now put locks on their school and house doors. They absolutely refuse to have phones installed although some of the farms do have phones in their barns....the Bishops have granted this. The family who lost the two little girls are having difficulties adjusting. Two counselors, both I believe were once Amish themselves, have been called in to counsel these families. Which is another miracle in itself because once you leave the order you are shunned for life. But, all of us have learned just how short life can be since this 9-1-1 happened to the Amish world. The fifth little girl is still in the hospital. She must have really been severely hurt. But, the second miracle is that she isn't giving up on living! I know the Lord must have something important for all of them to do in their lives! As soon as the last little girl is home with her family, I will let you all know and we will celebrate via this chatroom! Keep praying! Susan |

| My heart was broken in two when this happened. In Illinois, we have an Amish community not too far away and they are so gentle and forgiving. Such hard workers with God in their hearts. But one thing I did learn from this, if they can forgive what happened, I can forgive anything. May God bless them and send His angels to give them comfort and light. |

Is there anymore with the childern? Are they doing any better? I hope so, I keep them and there family's in my thoughts and prayers.

| Really, the prognosis for the last four girls is not too promising. The one in the hospital had severe head injuries due to the bullits. She was also shot in the neck, arm, and leg. The other three are home but I was told they will never be "right." The one in the hospital is still in grave condition. They tell me she is hanging on by a thread but refuses to let go. Please continue in prayer for their healings. We all know what can happen if we pray together and stay together for these girls and their families. Whenever your mind goes to this matter, pray. I thank you and I know these Amish families are grateful for your prayers, too. Love, Susan |

I never see anything about the girls in the newspaper anymore? Does anyone know how they and their families and community are doing?
They are so much in my heart.

| All I know is that the worst injured little girl is still in the hospital. She refuses to give up...so neither should we. The other girls are home but life as they knew it is over. I am told that they are cripplied and one has brain damage. I never hear what the one in the hospital is still there for....just that she won't give up. It will be a happy day for all when she is allowed to come home. Keep praying, ladies. Christmas is the perfect time for one of the Lords miracles. Thank you for asking about them. Susan |

It's such a heartbreaking thing to have to live with brain damage... but as you say, the Lord can heal anything. My prayers are with them all. Thanks for the update, Susan.

| I was told last night that the last girl in the hospital will be home in time for Christmas! Praise the Lord! I can't tell you what her injuries or limitations are because it's very sketchy as they are such private people. We received a cocoanut custard pie from our Amish neighbors last night and they gave me the good news. The Lord does work in mysterious ways.....how blessed we all are!
