Sounds like a busy week for everyone. Monday I'm making marshmallows (1st time) and homemade hot chocolate mix. Tuesday I'm watching my grandbaby and making pepper cheddar bread. Wednesday I'm making sugar cookies. Thursday I'm making food for the weekend.

This year will be the first year in 26 years we haven't had my kid's Christmas at my house...Kendall is working his EMT job, so we are fixin' breakfast casserole, packin' up the presents and heading to his work for the morning. We'll feed the guys there and they will play dirty santa with us! Great fun.

Everyone have a peaceful, busy week!

Pepper cheddar bread..now that sounds wonderful!!!
I have a busy week in store..seems like it should be easier after last week..but no. I love to be busy so its a good thing.
Tonight we had piano recital for both daughters..they are so good! I love that they have musical talent..I sure don't myself!!
Tomorrow is Travis' DARE graduation at school and I will finish up all the post office stuff hopefully..packages going out to CAlif, Washington, Alabama and a couple other small ones too!!
Tuesday I am subbing in third grade all day..but no plans at night. Whew!
Weds. I will be home for the day and then caroling with the youth from church (oldest daughter too) and Thursday home during the day and then cubscouts at 4pm and then at 6pm caroling with cubs from the whole pack. Friday getting ready for my company which will be here late Friday night. The weekend will be total lotsa family chaos but fun. Our company will be here until Weds morning.
We are doing 12 days of Christmas (my kids call it secret elves) for a family so we do a little delivery each night too..which is so fun. Tonight we saw them at the church building when we were leaving the piano recital so we hurried and delivered since we knew they weren't home..the kids love being so secretive and love hearing the kids in that family talk about their secret elves!!!
I havn't done much baking yet..will be fitting that in this week...oh and we do cheeseballs to deliver to neighbors and friends here in town. I will be getting the ingredients tomorrow and we will deliver them on Saturday so that our little niece, Jessica, who is staying with us, can be involved in the fun.
I hope you all have a fun family week!!

Very busy week for me. In the midst of everything I have to do, we have to also pack and have everything ready to go out of town for Christmas on Thursday. Gifts and all, plus 2 dogs and a cat. LOL!
Monday- Oldest son has a field trip, pack lunch, snacks. That evening prepare home made hot chocolate and put in packs for son to sell at his school bazaar on Tuesday.
Tuesday-Finish getting ready for school bazaar, go to bazaar
Wednesday-son has a music recital for school
Thursday-get everything together and go to son's Christmas party at school that I am chair person for. Then get in the car and drive to Texas.
Friday- Christmas party with friends
Things normally arent this busy. But for some reason my oldest sons school decided to plan everything the last week before Christmas break. What is up with that? I wish they would spread it all out! I know I will have fun and enjoy everything, but its alot to do when there is so much else going on. Anyway, I look forward to the weekend and just time to rest, I think!
I hope everyone here has a great week. And even when we get caught up in all the things we need to do, remember that this season is a time of love and peace. And that Jesus is the reason for this season. Be blessed!

Yes please, Valerie! I'd like to see your recipe, too.

I've set aside Monday and Tuesday for wrapping. Wednesday I hope to shop for the Christmas Day feast, and I'm meeting a friend for lunch. Thursday my animal chiropractor is coming. Friday I'm exchanging gifts with another friend. Saturday I'll have my grandsons. Sunday I hope to drop into my rocking chair by the fire and watch sweet old Christmas movies!

Thankyou for asking, Frannie! You helped me to remember that I should probably bring a token gift to the lunch. She's likely to do that, and I don't want to go empty handed. I did that on Saturday for a girl's get together, and I felt bad.

My older daughter and her husband flew in to Indiana (well, actually Chicago) from Phoenix on Saturday. We all went to south/central Illinois yesterday to celebrate Christmas (and my birthday, which was yesterday) with my husband's mom & dad. Today, we're all getting together with my mom & dad & g'ma. Tomorrow is a "finish up shopping day", then Wednesday they'll leave to go to his mom's house in Ft. Wayne, IN. So, I'll go back to work Wed, Thurs, Fri & Sat. Then we'll go up to O'Hare Sunday morning to see them one more time before they take off to go back to Phoenix. This week is our family visiting week!

So, I did most of my cleaning, shopping, cooking, etc last week to get ready for them to be here this week! We'll spend the rest of Christmas Eve & Christmas Day with our younger daughter who is still single & lives about an hour away.

Happily hustling and bustling....you know, 'the stockings were FLUNG by the chimney with care'....ha! Still knitting a second scarf and have hopes of finishing a hat for my mom. Both boys are home now, so that makes me happy indeed. Hubby is making chocolate mousse tonight, since he is a master in the kitchen. Have bought two scrapbooks to put things in for both my sons, too. Going to bake cowboy cookies this week, finish wrapping, shop a little this afternoon... I always have a big Christmas Eve dinner with immediate family and friends who are really extended family at this point. Always lots of fun. Hope everybody else is having fun, too. HO HO HO, Nance

The cheddar pepper bread is basically my homeade wheat bread that I add coarse black pepper and sharp cheddar to. Here is the recipe I use.

Pour 2 cups hot water into mixing bowl (I use kitchen-aid mixer). In a glass measuring cup, put 1/4 cup lukewarm water, 1 T yeast, and 1 T sugar. Stir and let sit until foamy (I let it sit until I'm done with the next couple of steps. Go back to your mixing bowl and stir in 1/3 cup sugar, 1/3 cup olive oil, 1-2 tsp. salt, and 2 cups whole wheat flour. At this point, before adding the yeast, I mix it on a med.-high speed for 3-5 minutes. Next, add 1 cup unbleached flour and yeast mixture. Mix again for 2-3 minutes. At this point, I add 3 or 3 1/2 more cups unbleached flour (1 cup at a time), 1-2 tsp. of coarse black pepper, and 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese. I just sprinkle a bit of the cheese as the mixer mixes, then more, etc., until it is mixed in. When your dough pulls away from the side of the mixer bowl, or is the consistency you are used to, let it rise 2 times until double. This recipe will make 2 loaves of bread, 2 big braided loaves of bread (these are really pretty to use as gifts), or 8 small braided loaves of bread (I'm using these in my gift baskets). When you get your loaves made, let rise, then bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Small loaves may only take 20-25 minutes. When I do braided loaves, I just put 2-3 on a regular cookie sheet, sprayed with Pam. Be sure to cool the bread on a rack. I've found, as I continue to make this bread, that I do better if I don't add so much flour during the mixing process. A tiny bit sticky will make a lighter loaf of bread.

Well, there it is. I'm not a very good recipe sharer from memory!!! So, if anyone needs better instructions, just ask, and I'll be glad to try.

Oh yummy. I just printed off the recipe.

I've got lots of baking to do this week (after working all day) and mail off last package tomorrow. Have to get a little gift for the boss and a few more for dh. The kids and grandson are all done.

I finally have a tree up and decorated and I will sit at night with only the tree lights on to rejuvenate.

We just hosted my husband's family Christmas party this past Saturday; traveled about an hour Sunday to reach my Dad's family Christmas party, tonight is my children's chorus/band concert. I work Monday thru Thursday, and I think my daughter has 2 basketball games this week.
I need one more gift for my dad, and after mom mentioned some odds and ends that he wants I think I will grab a bunch of them and make a nice goody box. I am making one more table runner for my grandma that I will see on Christmas day. (it slipped my mind somehow or else that should be done).
The kids and I will be off of school Friday so we will probably bake and decorate sugar cookies and make some other goodies for Christmas day at my Grandma's house. Saturday my husband and I will finish our shopping together and go out to dinner.
Christmas Eve we spend at my parents and Christmas day we spend at my grandparents.
I FEEL ready! so I guess that is what counts! I made alot more of my gifts this year and I tell you it was most gratifying. When I had to go to the city last Friday (early afternoon!) and got pushed and shoved around, I was pretty repulsed! Do people need STUFF that bad? , oh I digress....
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

O, Come let us adore HIM! www.beequilting.blogspot.com

I'm with Bonnie--
I FEEL ready, though I do have some running around still to do...I need to make an "emergency car kit" for my husband, and get a few grocery giftcards for some elderly clients who have become friends. I just couldn't think of what to get them this year, and everyone eats, right?
Tonight, I'm making dinner for dh because he worked Friday, Sat and Sunday (14 hour days all 3) and he deserves a home cooked meal!
Tuesday, getting together with mom to wrap gifts
Wednesday, office Christmas dinner
Thursday, make that Mocha Shortbread someone posted on the kitchen thread for office
Friday (hopefully half day at work and then home to clean up before the weekend)
Saturday, deliver gifts to my shut in friends, and visit with them
and the rest of time is for friends, family and Santa!

Just think of all of the roads there are...all of the things I haven't seen....yet.
