I know this is a bit "girly", but I'm really proud and excited for my husband and his bandmates...they released a CD in the latter part of October, and they've been getting SO much airplay on our NPR Radio station, WNKU. I'm surprised every single time I'm sitting at my desk, working away, and I recognize the familiar tune being played.

I mean, I guess it feels weird to think that I'm not the only one out there who really enjoys their music and thinks it has a valid place on radio...

Jonni- What is the band name? Maybe my WXPN will be playing it too! They sure like alot of music that doesn't get that "big radio format" airplay. I will keep you posted if I hear them. Philadelphia is considered a major market (I think...) and that could only be good exposure I'm sure. Are they touring? Maybe they could come to World Cafe and play!

Okay, everybody, Jonni is being way too modest on behalf of her dh and his bandmates. I went to his/their website: www.worldwidewojo.com and took a listen! They're very, very good! Check 'em out! :)

Thanks Janice, I went to their sight. Cool sound. Sounds alittle like the Beatles.

Janice! You tickle me! My cheeks are red--I guess I subscribe to the "because I'm married to him, people may think that's why I like them" philosophy :) They really are good, I guess, and it's so nice of you to say so.

I have to be honest, though, I dated a guy for many years in a band and NEVER liked their music, and never told anyone about them either--I guess you can see one of the reasons that relationship went south!

Congratulations to the band! I had some trouble with the page (maybe everybody who's read this is trying to listen at the same time), but I will check out their songs as soon as I can. My husband is a musician too, so I know that weird feeling of hearing something familiar coming out of the radio.

Bramble's local station, WXPN, is really a pretty big deal. I remember when I worked at a store in Philadelphia, people were always coming in and saying "Do you have this cd? I heard a song on XPN..." From the description on the myspace page, it sounds like your husband's band would fit right in with their format, so I hope they check that out.

Thanks so much, girls. Bramble's station is a great station--I'm very envious that she's gone to see the World Cafe--lucky girl! Some friends of my husbands, a local band called The Hiders, are played often on World Cafe and Wojo will be doing an Indiana tour with them in January. They've been courting stations like XPN and regional NPR affiliates like our NKU because they really do fit in there--honestly, I don't even know what IS popular now because I'm so public radio trained and have been for so long... Give me Wilco and Ray LaMontagne over mainstream stuff anyday! Glad to know others feel that way, too.

Myspace has some issues now and again--they had a regular webpage but let the domain lapse until they figured out design, content, etc...

What type of music does your husband play, Amie? I love live music--it's actually one of the only things I'll pay to see anymore!

Hey Jonni,
How cool is it to hear your hubby on the radio!?! I have heard Nash on the radio a few times & it was really strange, but fun too! We always laugh because Slingshot57 was number one in Green Bay, WI for ages...no one could quite figure out how that happened, but it gave us a chuckle. Our claim to fame "Number 1 in Green Bay!" I had no idea about air play & station format until I started calling in requests. Funny how some stations won't even consider new music. Our local Christian station has a list of songs you can choose from. Now that's hardly a request is it? LOL

My stinkin' dial up won't let me download music or I'd be heading right over to give Wojo a listen. I'm gonna write down the site & listen next time I head to town with my laptop!
And so..."Indiana tour" perked up my ears! I would just love to hear some good live music! I'm gonna check out myspace & look at dates. Maybe they will be near me!

And OK, my son's band is not my very favorite band. But I do like their music-and better all the time as they write new stuff. They are in Nashville recording the new CD this week. I'm so anxious to hear it-hoping Nash will bring home a rough mix at Christmas!

I'm a proud Momma Jonni & I give you permission to be proud of your hubby too! I can imagine dating a guy in a band who's music you don't appreciate would be a bit rough! LOL Heck, dating a musician at all... whew!
Amie, DO tell us about your husband's band/music too! I'm all ears!
Rhonda
