yep,,, we brought home another stray...
vtg. chair that is...
I luv MCM (mid-century modern)... so when I spotted this chair in a barn,,, I was giddy,, but when I say the $5 price tag,,, I nearly piddles in my panty's... something one should not do when there is snow on the ground! lololol!
We removed the top vinyl piece which had been added at a later date,, I am guessing in the early 1960's...
The original tag was still under the seat,,,
"Made for Sears... 1951.. Fabric 'Rose Frieze'...
Frieze is a type of fabric that was used a lot in the 1950's-60's for upholstery.
Oh and I have to laugh... we all talk about how things we made so much better in the old days... lol!,, not so ture...
from the looks of this upholstery job,, I wonder if the person working on this chair,,, drank his lunch,,,wink wink!

Great find, Grace. Wish I could find stuff like that. I'm looking for 2 upholstered arm chairs for my sewing room.

oh yeah! I don't know what it is,,, but I too luv MCM and Atomic designs... so much so that I am an avid collector of 'Bark Cloth' fabric in the Atomic design print... my best scores are former draperies in the vtg. atomic design bark cloth fabric,,,

OK - what are Atomic designs? I love barkcloth. I just looked it up - my brother has an entire house of Haywood Wakefield. And what I saw on line looks like that. He has dining room, living room, bedroom, lamps, etc. of that design.

Linda,,, tell your Brother to adopt me! lol! MCM is such a fun design...
In late Spring, in Palm Desert,,, they have a "Mid-Century Modern" week,,, with all things 1950's -60's ,, even cars and trailers....
I was out of State last year so I told my mom,,, set up the spare room,,, I am coming for the week for the event.. (mom lives in Palm Desert, about 15 min from Palm Spring).
