this little guy is my very first attempt at needle felting, I really want to learn to create soft sculpture animals.
I'm still working on him.
anyone else doing needle felting?

I needle-felted a sheep, which my cat managed to get hold of (even though it was out of sight and high). Cute rabbit.

So cute, I would love to learn how to needle felt. It will have to be on the list... Then I can gather more UFOs to have in my closet.

thanks, I do realize that he is kinda homely..... but it is my first time. I have seen some really good needle felted animals and am dying to improve and "create" a good one. It seems to be a lot of techniques to learn. The possibilities are endless. I saw a really neat reindeer and I am going to work up to making myself a whole herd, with any luck!

Anne, He is not homely, but rather cute and good looking. For your first attempt, I would say that you did a very good job. The more you work the craft the more you will feel confident in your art. Just keep at it. Hugs Becky

Anne - he is ADORABLE! My 12 yo is working on one for her sister - it's a dog. Where did you get your kit? We had picked up hers from AC Moore, but it doesn't look like they carry them anymore :(

I didn't have a "kit" I just wanted to try so I watched a couple of youtube videos and gave it a try with some wire and old roving my sister had stashed in her basement. I'm a learn as you go sort of person very often.

well you did fantastic! My daughter's was a kit and came with a mold to fit the halves in, before connecting them. She has both halves of the dog done and connected, and is now adding the brown spots. She still needs to do the ears, nose, and eyes.

Michelle I would love to see some of your nativity animals! Seems there are a lot of techniques that can be learned to get things more "right". a nativity in needle felting would be beautiful.

How adorable and so well done! I love the colors you used. I do like to needle felt too, but haven't experimented much with three dimensional work other than a few flowers for brooches or embellishments. Most of my projects to date have been flat work like landscape scenes, wild flowers, etc on linen fabric that I then stretched and framed.
Cheers! ~ Marilyn
