I bought some organic kombucha today at the grocery store. I got 3 different flavors. They all look like they have some decent SCOBYs in them. I am considering an attempt to make more from what I purchased. So, my question is: would I use the SCOBY and brew a new batch with green tea as normal or should I avoid that since these are certain "flavors"? I think one is gingerberry, "original", and mango. Thanks in advance.

Rachel I heard for so long that you can't get a scoby to grow from commercial bottles any longer. I have made kombucha for years. I can swap you a scoby if it did not work from your bottle or you can just paypal me 6 dollars to cover shipping costs. It easy to make

Kelly, thanks. I will try it and see what happens and will let you know. If I can't get it to work, I'll be sending you an email for sure :). I had some SCOBYs before we moved, but when we moved we had to seriously cut down and get rid of a lot of our stuff and that was, unfortunately one of the things we left since I figured it wouldn't be too difficult for me to get more to start over with. I need a bigger kitchen and a fridge just for my experiments!
