my precious dad died this morning as i was talking to my sister (who was beside him and had spent the night in his room) .. she told me to hurry and get there to talk to him one last time and so that he could feel the touch of my hand one last time .. and he took his last breath on earth. it was horrible and beautiful at the same time. my heart is broken.

we are leaving for d.c. in a few moments. thank you all for your prayers. i do know that my daddy is in a wonderous place right now and that this olde world will be a little dimmer for his loss .. but look to the sky at night and see that the stars will forever shine brighter. xo, frannie

Frannie, I am so sorry for the hurt and sorrow that you are feeling right now. I lost my dad quite unexpectedly a few years ago, and know the sense of "unbalance" that comes with this type of grief. Please know that all of us are thinking of you and your family and that you are in our prayers.

Poor Frannie--
He is in a wondrous place, and any pain he had is gone--thank god for that. I'm sorry for your broken heart, but it will mend. Please remember that his energy and spirit will always be with you--he has simply changed form.

Just think of all of the roads there are...all of the things I haven't seen....yet.

Dear Frannie, I share the loss of a parent, as my Mom passed away in June, it's never easy but rest knowing he was sent for and not taken from you. Share the memories with those sweet babies and your dear daddy will live on. Blessings to your family, hugs for you!!

dear sweet friends .. thank you all for your kind words, thoughts, embraces.

we are back home! about an hour outside of town on our way to d.c. .. my sister called to say that our dad's funeral is being held off until next MONDAY .. which just so very much surpized me that they chose to wait so long .. but for good reason .. my sweet aunt (one of two remaining sisters in my dad's family of nine children) and who was very close to my dad .. wishes for the minister who has been with my dad for the several years he has been at the nursing home and who knows him better than any other minister .. is not available to do the services for daddy until monday .. the funeral home assures us that this is not unusual and is o.k. .. they can prepare him for the almost week interval. it also gives some other family members time to make preparations to come to d.c. so we will leave early friday morning .. and be with the family over the weekend before daddy's services.

it is so very hard to lose anyone you love .. and my dad was my heart's love .. and even though he was ill all "my" life .. he had a heart as loving as eternity .. and by his very existence taught me unqualified love! no judgements .. just pure love!

thank you again for your sweet thoughts and remembrances. xo, frannie

Oh, Frannie. I am so sorry. I believe it's correct when it's said that the inevitable price we pay for loving truly is the pain of loss. It is all worth it. Sending love...

Frannie - so sorry for the loss of your father. I hope you will forever be able to take peace and love from the memories you have of him. Life is so wondrous. We celebrate new life in your family, and pray for the passing of a parent. So often this happens almost simultaneously. Three years ago, we lost my mother and mother-in-law within three months of each other, and also welcomed a baby girl. God provides. And He is certainly with you at this time for strength. Praying for you.
