I'm making my boyfriend a fleece blanket for Christmas. I was going to make a no-sew tie blanket, but couldn't find the all-over pattern I wanted; so I got the matching panel instead. I'm not sure how to make an actual blanket out of it. I'd like to make it with a backing. I was thinking of using a blanket stitch, but would that work with two layers? Or do you think I could sew an extra few inches of the solid fabric to the panel and continue the way I would doing the tie blanket? I'm still pretty new at this sewing stuff! Any suggestions would be appreciated!
If you don't like fringe (not my personal favorite) you can use a double thickness and do blanket stitch, but it works best if one layer is a little bigger and folds over so you have a better edge to bind. And bigger stitches work best on fleece for me. Looks cute with blanket stitch..everything does!!
