Hi Girls -

In His Amazing Love and Mercy, Our Lord welcomed Karen Home into His Arms this morning. She passed very peacefully, with her husband by her side, and a statue of our Blessed Mother held close to her heart in her arms. I cannot begin to thank you all for your prayers for my dear friend. I know that they brought great strength and comfort to her and her husband and their family over these past few years. She is so very loved, so very dear, and still so very close in our hearts. Lord, I thank You for having blessed us with such a wonderful soul - please bless her and keep her close to Your Heart in Eternity!

Rene said he knows she is in Heaven now, and happy and so healthy. He is absolutely broken up right now, and reflected on how strong she was and how much she suffered; yet she suffered with hardly any complaint, only worrying about her family and their salvation. In our last conversation, she just wanted to know she had done enough. She had worried about the times where she felt she hadn't lived up to what she should have done to bring her family more closely into The Fold. Oh, but I smile, with full confidence in my heart that the Lord joyfully and lovingly greeted her this morning. I know that I know that I know that she heard those ever longed for words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant!"

Karen was just such a remarkable woman, with such incredible faith, and a prayer life that I can only hope to attain one day. Her family are all saved, but one...and that upset her tremendously (so please pray for her son). She just wanted to know that they would all be ever safe under the Shadow of His Wing, and that one day they would all be together again. I reminded her of how wonderful and of what a blessing she has been to her family, and that her love for them will transcend any time, space and darkness. I told her that I know with all my heart, that her faith-filled prayers will not go unrewarded, that they will not return void, just as His Word promises. I reminded her that God loves her so much, and what a wonderful example she has set for all of us, not only in word but also - and primarily - in deed, in how she lived her life and her faith. THAT will be what brings her family home to Him! And God's love for her AND for them will assuredly gently guide them and hold them closely to His Heart. :)

I miss my friend already. I can't even begin to tell you. I am going to miss her voice, her laugh, her smile; I am going to miss our talks and I am going to miss her love. But all those things will never really leave me because she is still right here in my heart - not even death can take her away from me. It's only a veil that separates us now. She is on the other side, reveling in the Life that was always meant for us, and in the Light of His Love. What more can we ask for those that we love? She is forever young, healthy, happy, whole, and absolutely dazzling... and she is experiencing everything of which here she could only enjoy an occasional glimpse. I am very, very happy for her, and so relieved that her suffering has come to an end.

Now our hearts are turned toward her husband and family, for although one type of suffering has ended, the most profound suffering is only beginning. I just wish so badly that I could make this all better. As we all know, there are just no words to take away the pain of such an incredible loss; but our prayers and love, and perhaps even just our quiet presence, make the most healing balm. Please continue to pray for them.

God bless you, sisters. Please know I am praying for all of you, as well, and I am always here if YOU need me!

Much love,

Nini

12/07/15 Update #4

Hi Girls -

Thank you all so much for your continued prayers... I am so ashamed, but I haven't had an opportunity to go see Karen since our visit because my husband has had so many appointments and insurance issues for me to deal with. I have been praying for her, but I haven't even had time to pick up the phone at a reasonable hour. I feel just terrible about this. I heard from her husband this afternoon. Karen is now failing. She sleeps most of the day and night, but, thankfully, she does not seem to be in any pain. He said she is not eating any longer at all, not even a couple of bites of Jello; but she still does drink a bit, and her kidneys seem to be functioning. He said she can hear but cannot respond, and that this is the hardest thing to watch. He is just heartbroken and feels so helpless. Thankfully, hospice has been absolutely wonderful; a godsend. I am going to go over and sit with her for a little while on Friday evening while he is at an appointment. I'd like to read to her for a little while and maybe pray for her. She is such a special soul, I just hope something I can say or do while I'm with her will bring her some peace - that she will know how much she is loved. Please continue to pray for her and Rene and their family. My heart just breaks for them. I am just so grateful, though, that he seems to feel she is just sleeping more than suffering. In her dreams, I hope she's having happy, heart-warming talks and lovely, lingering walks in a beautiful, Heavenly rose garden with our Lord and Savior, whom she loves so dearly!

God bless you, girls.

Love and hugs -

Nini

11/20/15 Update #3:

Hi girls!

Please keep those prayers coming! We were able to see Karen today, and, although she is NOT happy at all about having her bed in the middle of her living room, especially during the holiday season, she was doing pretty darned well! We had her laughing and whenever she got upset about things, we just moved the focus of the conversation to subjects that really made her happy. She was having trouble finding words, but she was still communicating very well! And it was just so good to see her smiling and laughing - something I haven't seen in such a long time. So, thank you... Thank you, thank you, thank you for your prayers. One good day is worth more than we can ever describe! :)

Hugs and love -

Nini

11/19/15 Update #2:

Hi Girls -

Hospice has already set up a bed for her in her own home, right on the first floor where he can be with her all the time. He is thrilled - they acted so quickly. They understood everything he was going through and really helped ease his mind. He sounded so much better than he did earlier in the day. Thankfully, Karen is resting comfortably and is very peaceful in her own home, surrounded by familiar sights and sounds, enveloped in love and happy memories. Hospice has worked out a schedule of nurses and aides to help with every aspect of her care. Up until now, her husband couldn't bring himself to accept any help in caring for her; but right now he is just so overwhelmed that their help is an absolute godsend. He said he wants to keep her home, if possible, and hospice is going to help him implement his plan to do so. He is, however, leaving it up to the hospice nurse to decide whether or not at some point she will need hospitalization - he said he just can't make that decision. If it comes to that point, he doesn't have the heart to place her elsewhere. I completely understand. On one hand, he is so, so, so heartbroken, and yet, on the other, he said that it feels like 1000 tons have been lifted from his shoulders because of hospice. I am so very grateful and relieved. Hospice is a wonderful gift to families going through this kind of thing. I knew that he would feel so much better once he spoke with them. He said last week trying to get her to treatment was absolutely traumatizing for both of them. He was having difficulty lifting her himself, and she just couldn't move to help him help her, if that makes sense. Now she won't have to endure that horrible treatment that made her so sick (and wasn't really helping, anyway), and she won't have to leave her beloved home. He couldn't bare the thought of her spending her final days anywhere else. Thanks to hospice, BOTH of their wishes will be met! He said when she passes, she will be at home, surrounded by her loved ones. Hospice will help him ensure great dignity and peace when it is her time. He is just so, so thankful to God.

We'll be going over to see her in the morning. He said she was resting so peacefully for the first time in weeks, and we just didn't want to disturb her. Tomorrow we will be praying with him and over her, and showering them with love. I just want to hold her hand and kiss her cheek; I just want her to know I'm there and how very much she is loved.

Thanks again so very much for your prayers! God is GOOD!

Hugs -

Nini

11/19/15 Update:

Hi girls -

Karen is not doing well at all. She had about five radiation treatments and I think her husband said one chemo treatment, and did not do well with any of them - they made her terribly ill. After speaking with the doctor, her husband has asked that they discontinue treatment. He said it was not curative, anyway, that it was only to help with comfort. Over the past few days she has been unable to move at all, she has been sleeping a lot, experiencing confusion, unable to really communicate very well. Her husband is with the Hospice nurse right now determining how they will proceed with comfort measures. He is absolutely torn up, as you can imagine. Karen has fought the good fight for so long, and she is weak, tired and, well, she has just been through enough. He said right now, for her sake, he is just praying that the Lord take her. He feels horrible even saying it, but I told him that that is the most loving thing he can do for her. When she transforms into eternity, she will be perfectly healthy, happy and whole and living the life God always intended for her. The people who truly suffer, who are truly a mess, are those of us left behind who are awaiting to be gathered up to God and our loved ones again. Please, please, please pray for my dear friends, their children, their grandchildren, their loved ones... Pray for peace, and pray for God's love to envelop them and carry then through this. My heart is just breaking for all that she - all that THEY - have gone and are continuing to go through. She truly has fought the good fight, God bless her. Now is time for her Eternal Reward! I am going to miss my dear friend more than words can say. But I do find tremendous comfort knowing that she'll be on the other side, watching over all of us, and petitioning on our behalf at the Lord's feet. I just want her so much to be okay and to be at peace. And her husband - oh my, please pray for him. He is just so devastated. And please pray that the Lord quicken to me the ways in which I can help and comfort them during this whole thing. I so wish I could take this horrible situation away from them, but since I can't, I hope to make some small part of their lives a little brighter with love, hope and comfort - just as she has always given to us!

I'll keep you posted. Thank you so much for your prayers. Love you dearly, girls!

Hugs -

Nini

Hi girls -

Many of you remember that over the past few years I've asked for prayer for my neighbor, Karen. She had originally had breast cancer that spread to her liver and other parts of her body, then it went into her brain. She has been through an ungodly amount of suffering and treatment. She emailed me tonight... It's worse. SO much worse.

" my cancer is much Worse.i. I have it in my bones which makes it very painful to sit and walk. I have to have another series of radiation which scares me a lot. . It made me sick the last time. I think I have to have ten or more treatments. I don't. Really know yet , It s in God. S. Hand s. Love, Karen"

She then emailed me again, thinking this first one didn't go through for some reason. She said she is in so much pain.

I almost can't bear the thought of it - I love this woman dearly. She is such a precious, precious soul. Such a joy. SUCH a good friend. Please, PLEASE pray for her.

My father-in-law suffered and died as a result of bone cancer. It was the most horrific suffering I've ever encountered, God bless and rest his soul. I cannot believe my dear friend has to go through this now. She is tired, she is weak, she in horrible pain... She has done everything the doctors wanted her to do - tests, treatments, exams, diets, therapies... Sometimes things work for a time, other times she is hit with a heart-wrenching blow. Each time, she rises to the occasion, no matter how weak or sick or down she is feeling. God bless her. And now THIS. I just can't believe it.

I saw her about a month ago, and she was having serious difficulty communicating and finding the right words, and she was losing hope. She's giving up. And now that demon of darkness is going to make her suffer horrendously until the very end. I am so angry at evil I could scream and pierce the sound barrier! We need to take hold of this, girls, and pray her through and bring her a miracle! All she and her husband want is a normal life, with a normal retirement - just like their friends are having. They want to enjoy their grandchildren, enjoy their family, enjoy their time together... enjoy their beautiful garden, take a few romantic trips...see a little bit of the world... serve the Lord. They just want to revel in living. I so want that for them. I pray to GOD that He will heal her and give her - THEM - all these wonderful things and more, because she has endured all of this with such grace and faith and strength, and her husband has been faithfully by her side taking care of her every step of the way. She is an inspiration. They BOTH are.

And I know I've said this before, but if you met her - AND her husband - you would just love them. I've not known a finer couple since my grandparents were alive, I mean that. I'm sure Heaven longs for such wonderful to join It, but so many of us still long for them to stay here with us BECAUSE they are such love and light - true reflections of God's love in action. The world needs to be FULL of people like them! I am thrilled knowing that Heaven will be full of wonderful people like Karen, and I am thrilled that when she gets there, there will be no more pain and suffering, but rather only true joy and true LIFE as it was meant to be! She will truly have a BLAST exploring eternity! I know that with all my heart! I just don't want her to suffer anymore - especially not as horrifically as my father-in-law did. I really would like the world to see God's love through His miracle of healing for her... What joy that would bring EVERYONE!!! What a celebration on earth that will be!

No matter what, God's Will be done. He has her best at heart, I know He does. And she herself, even on her worst days, will tell you that this suffering is all for a reason. We must trust even though we do not understand and cannot see. She would recite Psalm 23:

"1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."

How many times so many of us have found great peace of mind through this wonderful Scripture that we were taught so very long ago as children! How very real it becomes when we are faced with such horrific circumstances. We MUST trust, even when we cannot see... We must trust, and hope... and pray.

Thank you so much for allowing me to rant a little; even moreso, thank you for praying for my friend and her husband. I do believe that there is always hope for a miracle, and I do believe in the love and mercy of God. I will not give up, but always hope, trust, love and believe. Please, always do the same. In the meantime, I think it's okay if I go have a good little cry, don't you? ;)

Love you, girls. Thank you for being there, and for praying. God bless you - always.

Hugs -

Nini,

I have tried to find the words, multiple times, to express my heartache over this news, and to let you know that I am praying, but those words do not seem adequate. In the last year and a half, I have lost my cousin and my hubby's grandfather to bone cancer. I agree... There seems to be nothing worse! Please know I have prayed, and will continue to pray... For Karen and her family, and for you! Love you sister!

Thank you so much, girls... I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate your prayers. Please also pray for her husband, Rene, and their family. This is just so... so... There ARE no words. So, thank you, thank you, thank you, and please keep them in your prayers - and even put them on your prayer chains, okay? I will keep you posted! Much love and warm hugs - Nini

Thank you so much, girls. We've been pretty tied up with stuff here concerning my husband's health issues, so I haven't gone over to see her yet. Tomorrow we have a day without appointments (a rarity!), so I'm going to give them a call and see if they're up for company. I'll let you know how things go!

:'( Oh Nini! It is so hard to come to terms with the best thing for our loved one is to make them as comfortable as we can and to quit fighting with medications! Praying for wisdom, for pain relief, and for comfort!
