Hey Deb! I always love reading your blog! I grew up in Yarmouth on Bass River! We just visited Plymouth last fall... Always has been one of my favorite places in the whole world! When we were up there, I thought about you and would have loved to meet you. There were just so many people to see and so many places to visit... we hadn't been back in such a loooong time... But maybe someday! Maybe someday! You'll probably laugh: my son was EXTREMELY disappointed by the size of Plymouth Rock. He loved the village, though, and he loved Plimoth Plantation. What a wealth of knowledge the re-enactors are! I learned so much about my family heritage... And I made sure my son got to try all the cool cranberry treats! ;) And I am DEFINITELY going to try your (Rebekah's) squash recipe! I am a cranberry and craisin fanatic! LOL! I love my cranberry coffee on chilly autumn mornings, and I have a beautiful bottle of cranberry syrup displayed in my kitchen... I would LOVE to try it, but just can't bear to open it! Whenever I read your blog, it brings me right back home... Thank you SO much! :) Have a happy autumn, sister! Hugs - Nini

Hi Debbie :) My hubby's aunt lives in your area and we are so hoping to make it up there to visit in the next year. What a fantastic location for a homeschool field trip :) If we do make it up there, we will probably focus on the Before Five in a Row book, Cranberry Thanksgiving. We have read and focused on it before, but what a perfect time it will be, when we are in an area known for them. When are they in season? And perhaps we can meet as well :)

Howdy Shannon!
Late September-Mid October is cranberry harvest season in MA. Make Peace Farm hosts the largest cranberry festival on the south shore.

http://www.cranberries.org/festival/festival.html
Go to this link to learn more and find dates for next falls festival. You could also see what Plimoth Plantation has for programs involving cranberries. I would love to meet you and your family! Please do keep me posted if you travel east! Happy Autumn!

The squash, apple, craisins recipe is going on the table this weekend. I'm pretty sure in advance it will on Thanksgiving table. Thanks for sharing.

Deb, as I was reading, I noticed that you posted, "When you discovered MaryJanesFarm, suddenly everything made sense." that's exactly how I felt! I didn't have a name for the way I wanted to live and then trying to explain that to someone was very difficult. Thanks for putting it into words for me.

H Julie,
Nice to * meet ya * So great you are enjoying this wonderful sister hood of farmgirls. I surely do! I agree. Farmgirl livin' is hard to explain to some folks. As MJ says, it's not where you live, but how. Welcome to the farm!
Hugs, Deb
