I'm going to have to apologize for not getting my box out today! This is what I get for waiting until the last minute to mail. We have snow and ice this morning and unless it melts by the afternoon I'll not be able to get to the post office! I promise to get it out just as soon as I can make it out of my road!

Wahoo! My package from Celticheart arrived today! Marcia sent the sweetest package:

AWESOME hand-painted sock yarn from Brown Sheep Co., Vogue Knitting Sock pattern book, "Zen & the Art of Knitting," Good Earth Vanilla Decaf Chai Tea, Moroccan Mint Green Tea, Dove dark chocolates, and the sweetest handmade card!

Here's a close-up of the yarn with flash...

...and without flash, look at those luscious colors!

Handmade card from Marcia...so pretty!

Thank you for the fun package, Marcia! I REALLY needed it today after three sick days home with a baby and no husband...you couldn't have planned a better delivery date! I'm off to sip some tea, eat some chocolates and browse some sock patterns. Husband is home now and baby is off to bed. MY TIME!

THANK YOU!!

Catherine

Oh you are very welcome Catherine. It's such fun to put together things like this. I wish I could say I made that card but I didn't. I cater sometimes in my spare(?)time and last sumnmer I catered for a group of retreaters who do stamping and make cards. They give me a packet of cards each year. Sometimes I share=~)

Enjoy your package.

Hi all,
Catherine, thanks so much for the parcel that arrived today! I thought I'd post thanks here as I knew you would be reading this thread. For everyone else, I posted somewhere else about knitting dishcloths and how all the cotton available in Australia is very thin, so Catherine sent me some gorgeous thick cotton yarn - lovely colours. I will definitely send some stamps your way for your cousin.
Thanks so much, my knitting friend!
Best wishes,
Jayne

Hi Catherine,
Knitting update! I have now made two dishcloths - thanks again so much.
A quick question though - what do you guys use your dishcloths for? Washing dishes, just wiping up? My youngest daughter looked at me in horror when I told her what I was using the yarn for. "You can't use those beautiful colours for something that will just get dirty". I think she wanted them for her! With the leftover though, I am going to knit up some more flower children, as the colours are lovely.
Best wishes,
Jayne

I use mine mostly for just wiping up and even have used the special ones for face cloths. I make them for gifts, and seem to end up with the plainer ones for me. I just love them.

I use them full-on in the kitchen. Washing dishes, wiping up, you name it. I just wring it out and hang it over the faucet to dry when I'm done and when it gets really stretched out of shape or dirty, I toss it in the wash with the rest of the towels and it shapes up nicely again. I just threw away the first one that I made and it lasted me a good four years! I just hate to throw away those disposable sponges all the time (and they harbor such gross stuff) so handknit dishcloths are totally the way to go, as far as I'm concerned.

So glad you liked the yarn and have already used it!!

Catherine :)

While my package went all the way across the country to Aunt Jenny in Utah, the farmgirl who had my name lives only a few miles away! Thank you Brenda! Mothering/homeschooling/smallfarming is so draining sometimes, it seems that "nobody ever does anything for me ( pity party!)." Receiving a box just for Mois is a treat! Coffee - plenty of yarn, chocolate, a sock pattern. I will have to get busy to do this pretty yarn justice. I"ve been wanting to try socks on two circulars . . . .

Oh Polly I'm so glad you liked it! When you said "Monet" that "Dancing" yarn just seemed so impressionistic!

Thanks for the dishcloth tips, girls. I too hate using throwaway things, so these are such a great idea - and look so nice too.
Polly, love your parcel - lucky you! It's so great to receive a treat for yourself.

Missy!

I got your package today and I can't thank you enough for all the goodies! The yarn is fabulous and I can't wait to try the coffee in the new mug! I've already been in the chocolate (I'm really hard core, lol). The soap is wonderful, and the hand salve is much needed here in Wisconsin! Thank you for including the pattern and dishcloth, the lovely note cards and notepad as well.
Sock knitting is a bit of a challenge and I have my last class on next Thursday. I have to be ready to decrease for the toe and learn the kitchener stitch (I did it once on a sweater shoulder back in college, around 1978!)I'm still working on the heal, coming up with funky stitch numbers. I'm going to sit quietly tomorrow and work on this until victory prevails!
Thank you again for the terrific gifts and for sharing your creativity!

What great packages everyone! I love KnitPicks yarn and also sent some to Grammy. Fun, fun!

This just in from GRITSgal - she's moving, has no Internet access and misses you all terribly! She'll be back online soon. In the meantime:

BRENDA (brightmeadow) - SHE SENT YOUR PACKAGE YESTERDAY! So watch your post.

Happy knitting!

Jana- I'm so glad you got your package. I mailed it a week ago and was beginning to wonder if it had gotten lost somewhere!? Aren't those chocolates incredible. A friend of mine makes those from her home(she has a commercial kitchen). I already put in my request to hubby for valentines day. Good luck with your class. I had mine last night and we learned how to turn the heal and I'm continuing on from that. It's a little confusing, but I'm trying to take my time. Unfortunately the classes are over and we never got to the toe. I'm thinking they should have extended it one more week

Anyway, enjoy your goodies!!

Blessings,

Missy

Yay! It's so exciting to hear about the goodies everyone is getting!

Kate, I haven't received your package yet, but I wouldn't worry, either--we've had some pretty bad snow with large drifts around our neck of the woods. That coupled with the fact that the mail is delivered not to our door but to a main U.S.P.S. bank of boxes near the county road means that there could easily be a notification in my box without my knowing it yet. We've promised ourselves we're going out this afternoon, no matter what. (We have an appointment to enjoy a hot tub and sauna at a Japanese spa on the mountain! We can't miss that!!) I'll check the box on our way back and let you know what I find. =)

Hope everyone is having a *wonderful* weekend!

Cheers!

Kristina

I went out to feed the dog a few minutes ago and there was a whole box of packages at the back door! The postman must have brought them yesterday but I'm sure they weren't there when I picked up the mail, or fed the dog last night. Quite a puzzle! So it was a wonderful surprise when I received my package from Jamie! There was more chocolate than what shows in the photo, but it didn't last until the camera came out.... LOL

The coffee is perfect - Breakfast blend from Starbucks - and what a hoot - the lavender body scrub is for "RELAXING" - I'll need it after drinking the coffee!!! Even the notecards have a coffee theme. As it says on the cards "Thanks a latte!"

I love the Knit Picks yarn - it just looks so happy!

Thanks so much, Jamie, for the package, and to you too Catherine for organizing this. It was a lot of fun!

Hello, SockSwap farmgirls! I am delighted to report that my second sick day has been significantly brightened by the arrival of my swap package! Kate sent the most wonderful collection of goodies! There was an entire bag of Ghirardelli 60% cacao chocolates (and I do mean there "was" ), the Winter 2006 Interweave Knits with oodles of lovely sweaters that my fingers are already itching for, two skeins of Lion Brand yarns in beautiful indigo and purple tones, and a delicious skein of Cestari yarn in a lovely Green Heather. Without a doubt, though, the first item to be used up (in close 2nd to the chocolate) is the Honey Vanilla Chamomile tea. Since I am home sick, this is particularly handy!

Since I haven't yet mastered placing photos on this site, I'll have to humbly ask that you jump to my blog to see the above treats at http://accidentalmiracles.blogspot.com/

Thank you so much, Kate, for all of the wonderful goodies! And thanks, Catherine, for organizing all of this! You can bet I'm in for whatever the next stitch-a-knit-a-needle-swap thang might be!

Kristina

Kristina,
Hope you are feeling better real soon - and what better way to be cheered up! I read your blog and I agree. I've only been on this site for about 8 months and I have been absolutely blown away by the kindness and friendliness of the farmgirls. The swaps are so much fun. Finding the farmgirls has been the best thing for me at the moment and I just love them!!
Best wishes,
Jayne

Kristina...I am so glad you liked the package. I must admitt, I had a particularly hard time parting with the green heather yarn!! I hope you are feeling better soon. If yummy tea and chocolates won't do it, I am not sure anything will!!

Happy knitting!

Julia, did your package arrive yet? I'm not sure if the weather's been bad by you and maybe holding it up...I'm just hoping it's not lost. USPS promised you'd have it by now, don't want you to think I've forgotten you. Hope you love it!

I recieved my package from Jayne yesterday!! Some beautiful hand-dyed rainbow wool yarn, some wonderful organic lemon grass, lemon myrtle, and ginger tea, and some Twinnings herbal tea, a little calendar for the refrigerator, some fun fuzzy yarn, and maybe my favorite-a little gnome that jayne knitted herself! Thank you so much, Jayne. I loved it. I'll post pictures soon! Thanks for organizing, Catherine! I'm definitely down for another swap like this one-so much fun!
