Hi Troyce!

Welcome to the MJF Knitters' Hot Socks Swap!

HOW TO SIGN UP:

Send an email to me (sockswap AT yahoo DOT com) with the following information:
* Your full name and MJF screen name
* email address
* mailing address
* answers to the following questions:
1. What do you prefer - solid, variegated or self-striping?
2. Favorite colors?
3. Are you a beginner, intermediate or experienced sock knitter?
4. Tea, coffee, or hot chocolate - what's your favorite? If coffee, what do you use to make it and do you prefer whole bean or ground?
5. Do you have a fiber preference?

Once I receive your email, you'll be added to the list. Sign-up is open until Dec. 31 and then swap partners will be assigned the next day. You'll receive an email from me with your partner's name and info, so you can start looking for yarn that suits her fancy. Packages need to be sent by January 15 and you'll send directly to your one swap partner (and will receive a similar package from one swap partner, directly to YOU!).

But you're not signed up officially until I receive that email with all of your information. Let me know if you're having difficulties emailing me and I'll help you out.

Thanks! Glad you're interested!

Any of you sock-knitters want to do a swap with someone who doesn't knit?
I would love to have a pair of hand-knit socks! I sew and crochet very well.
E-mail me if you're interested.

Merry Christmas,
Faith

Would this come included with a farmgirl to show me how to knit socks?!haha I would love to be included. We've got some great coffee here in the northwest for those coffee lovers!! Does someone have a sock pattern they would be willing to share? Something for a beginer?!

Blessings,

Missy

Hi Missy! Got your email and you're IN!

Bridge posted this link for a great sock knitting tutorial a while back:

http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/SockClass_Beginning.htm

Check it out! It is a very easy-to-understand tutorial and should help you to get on your way. There is also a post from Nancy Jo called "KNITTING SOCKS" in which someone (I forget who!) offered another site that has a two-needle sock pattern for beginners.

I'm certain that whoever gets your name in the Swap will be glad to toss in a pattern though too! Welcome to the Swap!

Catherine :)

Hey Missy!
I'm coming to Longview in March. If you can wait that long I'll teach you how.

Oh my gosh!! That would be so awesome. I've been so anxious to learn how to make something other than scarves and dish cloths!! yippee!! I may at least try to figure it out before then, but would definately love to get together for a sock knitting lesson.

Love and Blessings,

Missy

Missy,
It's a deal! Keep me posted on how you're doing with your sock knitting(or not). I'll be in Longview for a quilt retreat from March 22 until the 25th I think. We'll figure out where to get together. There's a yarn shop in Longview isn't there? I think my sister and I went there 2 years ago. Maybe they could help you also.

I just had to share what my sweet Mother got me for christmas(the rustic cottage.....sock kniting classes!! Yeah! I'm so excited!! Marcia- Still want to get together and knit socks. The class is two evenings, so I may still need some tips. Plus I never pass up the opportunity to meet a fellow farm girl. I don't get up to Longview much, so I'm not sure about the yarn shops there. I talked to someone who knits and got a list of good shops in Vancouver/Portland that carry what she calls "gourmet yarn".

Blessings,

Missy

Oh perfect Missy! You'll have a great time learning to knit socks. I taught my daughter-in-law how to knit this last weekend. She wasn't around when my girls learned a couple of years ago.

We can still get together if you want to while I'm on 'the west side.' I love to meet new people and especially other knitters, quilters and/or farmgirls.

Happy Knitting
