Cone flowers are seed flowers so I have seed saved mine and planted in the spring but I have also just dug some up and moved them too. I don't know about the others.
Cone flowers should be transplanted in spring as they're rather late bloomers. Cindy

Cannas are a rhizome so they are best transplanted in the fall after they have gone fully dormant. It's best to cut the stems back to about 2-3" ht. above the ground before you dig them up. Peonies can be divided and transplanted in the fall after they have bloomed and are nearly dormant, but be aware that often it will take a few years for the divisions to recover and bloom like the original plant. Cone flowers should slso be transplanted in the fall or early spring while they are dormant. Many hybridized Echinacea (Coneflower)varieties will reproduce from seed but they will not have the same color or growth characteristics as the original plant. Asparagus is best transplanted from the roots in the early spring before the sap starts to move. Same goes for the sage it's best to divide or transplant herbs during the dormant season. Thank you all so much. I wasn't sure about the fall or spring thing. I have folks wanting some of the cannas and cone flowers and none of us were sure what to do. I really do appreciate it.
